Yes, I was demonstrating my idiocy by posting something three times. I’m trying to get on Obama’s short list for VP.

How could you include
Natural Born Killers, a movie that was totally gratuitous, and not include
Oldboy, which featured over-the-top violence but at least there was justification for it?
You need to see more Asian cinema! :-)
Another good one is the creepy Japanese film Onibaba!

When I heard of Old Boy first, I just new it to be a must see Korean movie. I teach lots of Korean kids, and started to recommend it and ask whether anyone had seen it.
After a month, I managed to see it, and was shocked to see its content!
Anyway, as for Old Boy Vs natural Born Killers, NBK is far more accesible.
I guess a "movie experience" often depends on where and when you first see a movie. I had known of the contoversy about NBK, but when I first saw it, it blew me away. The Soudtrack is possibly one of the strongest of all time, and the pace is relentless. I think the casting of Lewis and Harrelson (neither would do particularly well after this movie at the box office)was an inspired choice.
Ultimately, I guess it's a love it or hate it, with me in the love corner.
Keep smiling,
Philip

1001 Arabian Nights (1959) This animated film stars Abdul Aziz Magoo ancestor of Mr. Magoo. I thoroughly enjoyed it when I saw it in the theater in the summer of 1960.
