By the end of the season, the SEC will prove itself the best football conference in the country - one more time.
Thanks for the ping, can’t wait for college football.
Something is very wrong ... very wrong ... lol
ML/NJ
Only 51 days before the start of college football!! It’s time to start getting in shape people!
“By the end of the season, the SEC will prove itself the best football conference in the country - one more time.”
That’s a fact.
USC @ Virginia? That’s different.
USC follows by playing Ohio State.
The SEC can schedule pansies to prove they’re the best conference, but other teams walk the walk.
Go Bulldogs! Fresno State Bulldogs that is!!
lol, I think that since it is July after all, and ABC hasn’t set much of their schedule yet, that Mich/OSU should be an ABC game—or at the very least, ESPN.
Sign in my college locker room:
"You get in shape to play football; you don't play football to get in shape!" Truer words were never written.
And remember folks: Round is a shape!
OK, I'll give ya' that you're kings of baseball; but in football, you'll have to eat Arizona State's dust! I'm just sayin'.
OUCH!!
Probably just haven’t decided the time to start the game; which will depend on what other games they want to televise.
"Anybody, anywhere, anytime..." - Coach Pat Hill, Fresno St. Football
Schedule us, and we'll see! ;-)
Tulsa doesn’t impress me, but Arkansas is one of the few SEC teams that doesn’t seem to routinely schedule non-conference pussy cats.
Texas is actually notorious for it. So good for the Razorbacks.
Maine at Iowa? “Drink to Maine our alma Mater the college of our hearts always.”
“My team, Arkansas, plays at Texas this September”
Ouch! That’s gonna leave a mark.
HookUm
Last season non SEC top 25 teams that play SEC teams this year: West Virginia, Texas, Arizona State, Hawaii and Clemson; other Bowl teams playing SEC schools: FSU, Tulsa, Ga Tech, UCLA, Wake, Memphis, So. Miss, Cent. Mich; and, of course, SEC east teams have to play the toughest conference schedule in the country.
So let me get this straight. The SEC, the entire conference, plays a total of five teams that finished in the top 25 last last year in their non-conference games.
This is supposed to be impressive. Who are the other SEC teams scheduling?
I’m not really dissing the SEC. It’s a tough conference to win, especially when the Championship game is added. But I reject the familiar refrain I’ve seen for years here that it’s the best conference in college football. Some years it might be, other years it’s clearly not.
You have a chance to prove you’re right this year. Beating Central Michigan doesn’t prove your case.
Well, they also play another 5 of the top 25 teams, as well as 3 others that received votes in the final USA Today poll.
What’s cool is that the Big Ten & Comcast reached a deal so we’ll get to see those Big Ten games that are only on the Big Ten Network. Yeah! As for Ohio State....I’m not getting ropped in this year. LOL!
The jury is still out on what kind of team Michigan will hve this year. Buck Belue says Michigan will have a losing record. So I gather networks are not going to commit to the game. If Michigan is good to OK this year it'll be a 1:00 game on ABC otherwise it might get shot down to the ESPN 12:00 games.

Probably true...my only request is could you SEC Freepers try to be just a little less anal than usual.
You have to hand it to Georgia this year. They are playing AT Arizona State this year which will be tough (probably in 100+ whether). It's the first time Georgia has played outside the southeast since 1966.
“Receiving votes” doesn’t count. C’mon.
I will grant you this. A non-conference opponent playing an SEC team is not going to take it lightly. The SEC is generally one of the best conferences in the country.
That doesn’t mean they have the best team. USC put 143 points on the board against them in their last three matchups.
The SEC may produce the best team this year, and they may not. That’s why we play the games.
Dennis Erickson is a great college coach and Georgia is going to have a tough time. 100+ degree and low humidity is nothing compared to 90 and high humidity. Just keep hydrated and hose down the players on a regular basis. Evaporative cooling works wonders.
If they’re playing at Arizona State early in the season, that’s not a gimme. Georgia is better than Arizona State, but for their sake, I hope it’s a night game.
USC destroyed the confidence of what was supposed to be a great Auburn team a few years ago 23-0 in the first game of the season. Auburn never recovered.
USC has been in kind of a league of its own for the past few years. Absolutely, they can still lose crucial games, but not many of them.
Plus they just keep recruiting the star athletes. Talent does mean something more than than conference alignment.
I think USC lost seven players to the NFL in the first two rounds, and they’re still the favorite to win the national title this year.
Los Angeles doesn’t have pro football, but almost.
It's a 8PM game EST which will be a 5 or 6 PM game Arizona time.
And not one SDSU game on that list... -sigh-
We have’nt gone to a bowl game since 1991, but hey, we can get 60 students busted for running an on campus drug ring.
Go Aztecs...
I’m not that concerned about it. We took them behind the woodshed the last time we played in DKR, back in 2003.
Yeh, Matt Jones won that game. I tend to forget loses.
“The SEC can schedule pansies to prove theyre the best conference, but other teams walk the walk.”
Go figure! How ya’ been? Who will be our breakout offensive player this year? McKnight? Sanchez? Hazleton?
I think the defense will carry this Trojan team in ‘08
We give credit to Arkansas - they had the fortitude to schedule SC and endure the back to back beatdown - 120 points!!!! Les Miles would never have that kind of courage.
Keep an eye on Damian Williams... the WR that transferred from Arkansas at the same time as Mustain. He was VERY impressive during the Spring workouts and is doing great on the 7-on-7's going on during the summer.
Fight On!
I’m not sure SC can have a breakout player this year because they’re so strong at every position. McKnight would be the logical choice, but there are six other running backs who would be a star on any other team, and they’re all going to get their chances.
Sanchez finally gets his chance to do more than mop-up duty, and he has a stronger arm than Booty did. He just didn’t get the chance to throw the ball deep much while running out the game clock.
I heard Williams is good - will be fun to watch in the fall.
Were you able to attend any of the spring workouts or scrimmages this year? I will try to make it down for the ASU game this year, and maybe one or two more.
