I may see that movie...
Too much belly fatrolls for me. You can have her, Perdogg. /sarc
“Actress Rose McGowan to star in big-screen remake of Red Sonja (Maybe a remake of Barbarella)”
I like Rose.
What else has she appeared in?
She was his fiance until he dumped her for Dita Von Tease who he dumped for the next young thing to come along...
Oh wow! A remake of a movie that people only watched because Brigette Nielson was doing ‘Rocky’. And Barbarella was supposed to be a sex farce with Jane Fonda and made by her abusive hubby at the time (see seems to have problems picking husbands, don’t she) but shows some of her exposed flesh. I hear the DVD bins making room already!
Robert Rodriguez’s
As much as a commie bitch Jane Fonda is or was; she was smoking hot in Barbarella.
Barbarella I can see, but is she tall enough to play Red Sonja? She doesn’t seem imposing enough....
That’s why personal trainers in Hollywood make about six figures.
She’d be doing well enough to operate a kitchen knife, much less a sword.
I don’t know if a personal trainer will help much to make an actress who’s 5’4” in heels look 6’1” barefoot....
If they remake Barbarella, I want to try out for the role as Pygar.
Now I remember the shot of her with a garment that was entirely see-through—on the red carpet with Manson.
You must have missed her stints in Tarantino movies.

..and a good images just for the 'rules'.
Her idiot boyfriend, Robert Rodriquez. BUT, I just read (granted, it was on a gossip site) that these two have split up and she will NOT be playing Barbarella (and if they split up, she probably won’t be Red Sonja either), because he studio wants a bigger name in the roll.
They were saying that Jessica Alba is possibly going to star in the remake of Barbarella.
Maybe Red will be wearing stilletos.
She is still listed in preproduction for Red Sonja.

A hollywood actress dating a producer/director and then she starts showing up in all his movies? No way.
Red Sonja? Blarf. There are other great action novels that could be made into movies but Hollywood has taken recycling way too far.
I’d rather see a movie/miniseries on Miles Vorkosigan, Honor Harrington and Kris Longknife.

That’s the cinematographer’s job. And they’re good at it. Most of Hollywood is pretty short, but how many times in a movie or preview have you ever seen anyone look taller than Tom Cruise? Appleboxes, short co-cast members and some up angle photography 5’4” can look like 7 feet, 6’1” is a gimme.
The Birds, Friday the 13th, Creepshow, TRON, Footloose, Revenge of the Nerds, Rosemary's Baby. Not to mention all the TV shows they are making into movies, A-Team, Dallas, Good Times, Smurfs. It's like they just gave up trying to think of new ideas.
They either remake classic films and ruin them, or remake junk and make it junkier.
someone in hollywood needs to browse the local barnes and noble
She was the hot one in the Charmed TV series and has done a number of medium to small movies or bit parts in larger ones.
I wouldn’t call Red Sonja a “classic”, it’s an ok, fun movie. In my opinion, for what it’s worth, Rose McGowan should be in every movie.
I heard Jessica Alba was doing Barbarella
Rose is also the co-host, along with Robert Osborne, of “The Essentials” on Turner Classic Movies. She’s not your typical TinselTown airhead. The girl knows and appreciates her classic movies.
They always did a lot of work in Get Smart to make Don Adams (5’8”) look taller than Barbara Feldon (5’9”).
I’d like to see TRON remade. You’ll see the then-advanced computer graphics of the old one next to what we can do now. Then remake it in another 25 years to show how primitive our current state of the art is.
Oh heavens, don’t let Hollywood within 10 light years of Vorkosigan! They’d make Miles six feet tall and give him a romantic limp. 10 to 1 they’d ditch Quinn, shack him up with Bel, and we’d be lucky if it was less than 90% action sequences.
Honor Harrington, on the other hand, just might survive intact. I’d actually like to see that....

According to Page Six, Rose split up with her director boyfriend, whose marriage she broke up, because he couldn’t finance the films with her as the lead.
Or make the the 6 foot, 1 inch tall John Rhys Davies appear 4 feet tall in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy...:)
I would so like to see that!
(Sigh) I know. Once upon a time I thought Michael J. Fox would make a good Miles but after the hatchet job SCIFI made of Earthsea...ech. Some books are better left as books.
If you like Honor Harrington, you may want to try the Kris Longknife books by Mike Shepherd (aka Mike Moscoe). His earlier works aren't good but he gets better and better with Longknife. Kris (imho) is a very different character with her own baggage (literally) she has to drag through the Navy. It's not as hard in the military department but it's still great fun.
One of the things I notice in women is arms and shoulders; tells you whether whether a woman has ever really done anything with her body other than lived in it, and this one clearly hasn’t, Tarantino notwithstanding. The chick you’d really want for Red Sonya would be something like those old pictures of Katie Sandwina at 18 or 20, and there are a few of those out there.
Katie
vs Rose
IMHO, no contest. Rose may not be as tone, but I doubt anyone would go to the theater to see Katie.
I bet Michael J Fox would have done a good Miles. And though I know it’s a bad idea, I secretly long to have a good film version of Paladin of Souls. Some things are just not meant to be, I guess.
I’ve been on an Elizabeth Moon kick lately, the Paksenarrion books first, and now I’m on the Vatta’s War series. Very enjoyable! I’ll have to look those Kris Longknife books up. I’m running out of new material :)
Just what the world needs. More remakes. Red Sonja and Barbarella. The world needed another remake of King Kong too. And the Wild, Wild, West. And the Alamo. And Scooby Doo. And the Flinstones. And the Hulk. And superman. and spider man and on and on and on and on.
The only originality I see in Hollywood are in the animation factories.
So you won’t be going to see the remake of Ishtar starring Owen Wilson and Brad Pitt?
Who's on top?
