All of us will die some day. We think we'll start every article with that from now on, just to set the right tone. But death isn't all bad. Because in addition to ungrateful kids and a foul smell, you get to leave behind bat**** insane requests that people pretty much have to honor.

I believe there was a prisoner on Death Row (not the sharpest fellow) who asked for a last meal containing certain food items, one of which was a slice of apple pie. Well, the meal was rather filling and he didn't have room for his dessert.
As he was -- ahem -- being led down the hall, he asked the guards to save the pie for him. He was planning on having it when he got back.

Ricky Ray Rector in AK,
Clinton was governor at the time but running for President. He flew home from a campaign event to be there for the execution.
He took a lot of grief from the left because it was argued that Rector was not mentally competant. (He had sufffered severe mentral incapacity from a bothched suicide attempt.)
Anyway the democrats were were fighting the perception that they were soft on crime and Clinton needed to seem tougher. Rector was executed.
I am not defending Rector. He was a double murderer who was found guilty.

I had a cousin who was something of a hypochondriac, and when he died, in his will he asked that his tombstone be engraved with "Now do you believe I'm sick?"
Al was a funny guy.

I won’t defend Rector either, but the fact that Clinton picked that execution to make his mark with tells you something.
