Summer Sun
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.
Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.
The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.
Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy's inmost nook.
Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

Joyful Living
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17
Our search for joy takes us many different directionsdream holidays, shopping, food, clothes, friends, carsthe list is almost endless.
My guess is that if you perked up at the mention of shopping, holidays, or cars, you might have felt a twinge of guilt. We often view the joy of temporal things as less than spiritual and show our discomfort by apologizing for nice things: I wouldnt have bought this, but someone gave me a wonderful deal. As if real Christians never eat quiche, drive cool cars, or wear designer clothes!
No doubt Gods greatest gift to us is our relationship with His Son Jesus. Its a gift beyond comparison. Jesus promised that when we abide in Him we will experience the fulfillment of His joy (John 15:11), and without that kind of deep, abiding joy the rest of life is mundane at best.
But Scripture also casts the joy of the Lord in terms of temporal things. The enjoyment of things can be a positive spiritual experience. When we recognize that He gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Tim. 6:17) and that every good gift . . . is from above (James 1:17), our hearts should be full of thankfulness and praise. This, in and of itself, is an act of worship! Enjoy the Giver and the gifts.
We thank Thee, Lord, for daily food,
For plenteous store of earthly good;
For life and health we still possess,
With house and home so richly blessed. Mohler

In post 2961, it was kinda hard to make out the 'O' in 'HELLO' so I thought for a moment that you were mad at me. I really couldn't blame you if you were mad since, every time you post a graphic with an old car in it, I'm reminded of a boring story.
So........ today I'll talk about something really "far out" and completely out of character for this thread.
On second thought, I really need to go do some trimming with the weed-eater so yall have a good day and stay away from Catfish John!

Oh....lots of great memories in that photo! Although it is not a very good photo of me. I had to retouch the tears off my face. It was a very emotional evening, wasn't it, Amy? I wouldn't have wanted to miss it for anything.
Really counting the days now, Nan. I am so ready for this vacation and, for jk, who has been so buried under a pile of work for months, it will be a huge relief for him to get out of that studio for awhile. I know he needs this vacation way more than I do.

Shonan Coast beach in summer (Japan)
The Shonan Coast faces Sagami Bay, and during the swimming season in July and August beaches are packed with families and young couples. The colorful swimwear and beach umbrellas brighten up the long stretch of sand.
Coruna, Spain beach looks like this Shonan Coast beach in Japan. ;-)

In the 70’s my Dad bought one that looked very much like the one pictured. Probably different wheel covers but it was the turquoise color. He was very proud of that car.
He had probably coveted that car for all the years he was supporting the family.
