I haven't seen it, but after reading a few reviews on IMDB, you've tweaked my curiousity.

Thanks :-)

"I, Claudius"

The book is a literary masterpiece by Robert Graves but the cinematic version (series) is OK too.

Iron Man is probably going to be a top-10, but it just hasn’t been out enough yet.

None of the “Indiana Jones”-named movies should be in the top 10. Raiders starts with an “R”.

It’s a Wonderful Life really isn’t that good a story, or movie.

I would put Italian Job up there. Maybe I, Robot. I personally loved Independence Day, but it really wasn’t a great movie.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers. OK, probably not a top 10 either.

I would have to put this into the Mini Series Category, rather than movie.

Nevertheless.....An Absolute Masterpiece!

Not completely true. The most recent is called "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", so it would (if it were worthy) fit in this category.

Maybe I, Robot.

Are you nuts? The only thing that remotely hinted at a fine series of books (even from a crazed socialist like Asimov) was the names of the characters. I would rate this one with "Battlefield Earth" in the pantheon of lousy pseudo-sci-fi flicks. Might even be on the level of "Plan 9 from Outer Space"!

It was written as In The Garden Of Eden but the singer was so drunk it came out as innagadddeveda, and that’s what they wound up calling it.

I have the I Claudius DVD box set, I haven’t watched it yet, I know it’s been called the best TV series ever, it will have to go a long way to pass Deadwood in my book.

My mother loved the series when it was on TV so I bought it for her, she watched it again, I keep meaning to watch it.

I stumbled across this on Netflix. Excellent comedy, but a little scary when you consider the premise is not as outrageous as it first seems.

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is one of the truly underrated comedies of all time.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Ark is pretty much the best action/adventure movie ever made ... right up there with Die Hard.

Good list.

Actually, the last 3 movies all started with “Indiana”. My point was that you have to count each movie separately, and that in my opinion none of the movies starting with “Indiana” were worthy of top-10 status.

Raiders of the Lost Ark may be (and the original poster alluded to that by including it in parenthesis), but it doesn’t count because it started with the letter “R”.

I, Robot would not win an award for most faithful to the original book. But that wasn’t the category here, and I personally really liked the movie.

I actually had another 3 or 4 “I” movies I really liked but that I don’t think the general population found all that good. “It Could Happen to You” is a movie I like, which I doubt has a big following.

The name of the movie was “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. They didn’t put the “Indiana Jones” name into the title until the 2nd movie — which they did so people would know it was a sequel.

I just watched IMMMMW with my daughter. We had a lot of fun, although I had to agree with her that the ending (with them all flying off the ladder) was stupid.

It was a very sad movie though, kind of tragic with the chief getting what he wanted but not knowing it until he had messed up too bad.

True. I see more and more of this just about everywhere. People walking around with their mouths agape. Customer service reduced to broken English and a touchscreen (currently happening at McDs and other fast food joints).

You mean, like, from the toilet?

Agreed "The Illusionist" was a really good flick-and so was "The Prestige" which came out around the same time. I think they knocked each other out at the box office because the public thought they were just two movies about magicians.

Bump for "The Incredibles" (chock full of conservative values) and "Iron Man".

I think IMDB is a useful tool.

Certainly for people to get a feel of the movie they have invested the time into researching.

Of course all top and bottom lists are subjective, though.

Keep smiling,

Philip.

I am aware of the name ... I didn’t put Raiders in this category ... it isn’t my list. I just liked the movie.

Yeah — but you’ll not find a better cast in the history of movies ... Tracy, Berle, Hackett, Rooney, Winters, Murmon, Ceasar, Falk, Knotts, Durante.

Other contenders for greatest casts ever — Oceans 11 and The Departed (great movie ... I missed the “D”s but it better have been on there). But, I still think IMMMMW probably takes the prize ...

I Witness ( don't be so sure )

Do you mean "Eyewitness" with Harrison Ford?

I Heart the Huckabees

If it hadn't been for the fact that my cousin has a part in the movie, I would have walked out on it (my wife actually did). But if you like any of the recent Bill Murray movies, I guess you might like this one. I don't and I didn't.

Again, to each their own. As sci-fi, it stunk. As a murder mystery, it wasn't.

And as far as faithful to original books, Hollywood really must love Asimov's titles but hate the content. Another one they trashed (though somewhat better) was "Bicentennial Man". Good book, fair movie, but aside from the title and some character names, not even close!

i'm sorry but that movie was atrocious. and i wanted to like it since i had heard such good things!

the premise is great. the execution is awful, IMHO. and i usually love those stupid funny movies. but most of the characters are just maddening to me. maybe i should have been drunk when i saw it.
