AMERICA-The Right Way! June 30 - July 4, 2008[Remember the Trade Center!]

Having just about enough of the broadcasts of NObama and Hil lovefest, the talk about the economy and high oil prices, our TV was stationed on other things this past weekend.

Last night was a pleasure when we watched, on WGN TV, WKRP, Newhart and The Honeymooners. Many much needed laughs resulted. Honeymooners- Chef of the Past, Chef of the Future. LOL Funny stuff!

I’m working today - then the rest of the week is penciled in for vacation and relaxing and finishing a book or two. I’m on page 3 of the book “A Conservative History of the American Left”

Good morning!

Looks like more rain out there today...

I'm reading Erik Larson's Thunderstruck, and it's not so appealing, but I hate to just quit a book...anyway the author tries to interveave the stories of Dr. Crippin and his crime with Marconi's invention of the wireless, and it's a little tedious, plus depressing...

Good Morning ya'all!

A fine week shaping up here.

Just finished reading The Few by Alex Kersaw. (He wrote the best seller, The Bedford Boys)

The Few is about the some American boys who defied the neutrality laws of this country and joined the RAF to fight against Hitler's Germany. A fascinating read.

I didn't realize that these men were stripped of their citizenship here. Joe Kennedy, ambassador to England, comes off as a real jackass.

Good morning! How are you doing, always?

I'm heading out for a walk, then quilting.

Maybe some housework???

Sounds like Weasley Clark mocked McCain's war and service record...what a joke those Dems are. I just hope the joke isn't on us...

Any fighter pilots out there? Well Clark just trashed your skills and training.

Morning!

Kersaw does a great job writing. He pulls you in from the beginning. He also looks at the perspective of some of Germany's top aces as well.

Very intriguing.

Clark is coming off as a real idiot.

The training it takes to qualify as a pilot in the Air Force is enormous. Even if you don't agree with the person on a political basis, you never trash the skill it took to serve this country.

The man has lost his soul and decency. He's a far cry from an officer and a gentleman.

Molly and lysie....Thank you for the starts, dedication to ATRW, and breakfast.

Been reading, as an escape from politics, Diana Gabaldon’s OUTLANDER series. Much of it is set in Scotland. Enjoying them.

I just LOVED those books, and re-read them a lot. The first three and the sixth are my favorites. She does such a great job of creating characters you care about, and has such fascinating plot twists!

Clark...all his remarks are said to prop up “no service O”. If hill was the candidate, he would probably attack all men for...not giving birth during a military mission. Sheesh, what a jerk!

Molly, it’s just a book. I would never trudge away on a depressing book. I did that ONCE, and when finished said “why did I bother?”

I have a book I’m finishing now “Princes of Ireland” by Edward Rutherfurd, and when done with that, I’m on to 2 books on the shelf. Hubby is reading Shadow Warriors - he’s appalled.

Good morning Molly. Did you hear that incredible interview Bennett just had with Jill Stanek ?

If only we can get the word out to the vast majority of voters regarding the Born Alive Infant Protection Act and how even the most liberal pro abortionists support the Act while Barry Hussein O. (50% white, 43% Arab, 7% African black; NOT an American black; NOT a descendant of slaves) opposed it with every vote in not only the Illinois Senate but also in the U. S. Senate. In addition, it is very disturbing hearing about the connection between "Rev." Wright, Barry Hussein O. and Christ Hospital where Jill worked and testified that the born-alive babies were being allowed to die in the soiled utility room. :((

I agree about Joe. I am glad that Kersaw really hammers him in this book.

He went to say that old Joe didn't resign from Roosevelt's cabinet. FDR dismissed him.

Good morning, All. For those that are familiar with Mike Gallagher and his conservative radio talk show, you probably know about his wife, Denise, and her battle with cancer. Well, she lost the battle yesterday, Sunday June 29, at the age of 51. Today would have been her 52nd birthday. Condolences and prayers for Mike and their 2 sons.

Morning folks. Just a heads up. I got a freep mail from a newbie (signed up yesterday) about John McCain. (see post in bold)

I saw from another thread that they had freep mails sent to them encouraging them to post on derogitory comments about Obama on a particular thread.

It looks to me that we are getting trolls here in incite comments that could hurt us with the media (yeah, I know) but the media seems to be making a concerted effort to present us as racist, etc.

Anyway here is the freep mail sent to me about McCain.

Re: John McCain's Vietnam jailer backs him

From harald | 06/29/2008 2:29:22 PM PDT read

This is a terribly sad story. But what the hell do you expect from people you bomb? If you bombed my home, and I caught you, there’s a chance I might do unspeakable things to you—horrific, out of character, desperate, inhuman things. Think about it.

BTW harald has now been banned.

It’s really hard to describe them: history (especially military history and later, colonial history), science fiction, drama, medical thrillers, sly humor, and they put the books in the “romance” section of Barnes and Noble, for heaven’s sake! Even my hubby gets really absorbed in them.

You need to read them in order, starting with “Outlander” and then “Dragonfly in Amber”.

Good morning...going to do yard work today but it is still too "dewy" to start so I am lurking.

Sad news about Denise Gallagher - prayers to Mike and his family.

Some people are posting angry words at the Jerusalem Post site Molly put up. Still have questions myself about McCain's conservatism, but no question about who will get my vote in November.

Serious question....why would a Republican choose not to vote, or vote for a 3rd party candidate? People who say they could NEVER vote for Obama. OK...well, can't they do the math and realize a non vote or a vote for a 3rd party is A VOTE FOR OBAMA?

Bev, how do you teach a fish to walk across the pond instead of swimming? In essence, I don't know the answer to your question. Logic tells me I need to vote R regardless if I want the Pubs to be in office.

My heart tells me I should let them all be voted out as punishment for their nondeeds or misdeeds. But then again, logic prevails and I calm down when I think of the alternative to our RINOS in office.

I gotta tell 'ya....I am depressed over the Hitleresque, mind numbed adoration of the Obamassiah!! I find it almost impossible to talk to these empty headed voters!

I have said "He will raise your taxes" (that's OK - we need to pay higher taxes to get out of debt) "He will appoint justices that will reverse 2nd amendment rights" (what's that?)

I am telling you - his followers are like drugged out junkies! And, in total honesty, I am not sure they have enough 'grey matter' to prosess information! Therefore, I am wasting my breath.

When she is writing about the second Jacobite uprising in the 1700’s, and the machinations to place Charles on the throne (and those to keep him off), I think she starts with the hard historical data, the battles, the actual events, and then weaves her story around them. Her writing is the reason why my hubby and I were so determined to travel to Scotland, and brought alive certain places such as Holyrood Palace and the Royal Mile for us.

When she veers into colonial history, I sense that she is still as historically accurate, just from a wildly different perspective (any more and I would be spoiling it, LOL!). It’s all done in a fascinating way. I don’t get the idea that an historical scholar would be offended as much as bemused as to how she wraps her story into history. (In that way, the books sort of remind me of Forrest Gump, putting a fictional character into real historical context.)

Hope this helps!

bev, Just a while aga, in walks a parent of one of my students. I always knew he was a lib cause he works forthe United Nations!

But it took my breath away to see him sporting an Obama shirt. ( picture of Obama postage stamp on it) Then he tells me his kid has an opportunity to goto camp with the Saudi kids in Saudi Arabia. He will learn to ride camels , etc there and make contacts for the future when he becomes an architect; a "green" architectural student.

BTW, the kid was private tutored and still failed Algebra II. I gave him 8 free sessions to continue - BUT this time since I am paying the bill, the kid will perform or I stop the sessions. The kid has a habit of not doing homework or memorizing his formulas, etc.
