Burned and shot, woman escapes
San Antonio Express News ^ | 24 June 2008 | Brian Chasnoff

The couple's quarrels reached a crisis in 1994, when the wife pried open a bedroom door with a kitchen knife, slashed the sheets and lunged with the blade toward her husband . . .

The marriage did not improve. In the 2003 affidavit, the husband testified he was afraid of his wife and had only stayed in the relationship “for the sake of the kids,” their two teenage sons. . . .

But about 4:45 a.m. Monday, police said, Glen Denson ambushed his wife, Sharon Denson, at the North Side home of her boyfriend, shot them both and set them on fire . . .

The boyfriend was killed; he was found naked in the house and burned beyond recognition. . . .

Critically injured, Sharon Denson crawled from the flames and collapsed in the street . . .

Shot about five times in the torso and severely burned, she managed to tell police that her husband had attacked her, where the attack had occurred and where police could find him . . .

. . .

He was a good neighbor, a good friend, a retired Marine,” said Thompson, 80. “We have a nice, quiet neighborhood. Something like this is very disturbing.”

. . .

•In 1994, his wife lunged at him with a kitchen knife. He called police and cowered behind a Stairmaster in the basement until officers arrested her.

•In 2003, she punched him in the arms, chest and back.

“I held Sharon down until she calmed down,” Glen Denson testified.

•About a week later, she pushed over a computer monitor and punched him in the chest.

“Then Sharon threatened if I slept in the same bed as her I wouldn't wake up the next day.”

Glen Denson called police. An officer told him nothing could be done because there were no visible injuries. Police suggested that “we go to separated (sic) rooms and I barricade the door.”

"Hearing Glen Denson's allegations in 2003, a Bexar County judge did not grant a protective order. Instead, the judge ordered something else: a mutual injunction. Although the couple would continue living in the same home, it barred them from acting in a way that is “reasonably likely to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment or embarrass” each other or family members.

And Glen and Sharon Denson stayed together"

The boyfriend was killed; he was found naked in the house and burned beyond recognition. Medical examiners had not identified him Monday.

This guy is guilty of murder pure and simple - no matter what type of battering he took from his wife in the past. She was at her boyfriend's house and was no immediate threat to him. The boyfriend, so far as I could tell from the article had NEVER been a threat to him.

Having said that, I do wonder why the cops didn't take her in when he called them. I feel certain if the tables had been turned, he'd have been arrested in a New York minute.

There is problem #1.

Inverted and backfired?

Or, something else?

Guys don’t bruise like women. Most women bruise like a ripe peach. My wife runs into counters, the edge of her desk, her filing cabinets, bumps her knee on a door, she generally gets a bruise.

Half the time I see one first and she can’t even remember what she did to get it.

That sounds like my husband. He always has horrible purple and yellow bruises and never remembers how he got them.

He who shoots and runs away, lives another day.

Perhaps if they had gone into counseling....?

Not really surprised that he snapped, but they should have broken up already back in ‘94!
