London - Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema and is being treated at a London hospital, a British newspaper report said Sunday.
The Grammy award-winning singer's serious lung condition has been attributed to the abuse of crack cocaine and cigarettes, her father Mitch Winehouse told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.
Doctors warned his daughter that she could end up in a wheelchair within a month if she fails to stop using the drugs, he said. The 24- year-old then told him, 'Don't worry about me, dad. I know I've got to stop taking drugs now.'
Winehouse was rushed to hospital after suffering a fit at her home in North London this week, according to the report. She also underwent tests for a lump in her chest, provisionally found to be non-cancerous, according to her father.................."

Amy reminds me of another self abusive white girl who thought being”soulful”was to be as self destructive as possible.Her name was Janis Joplin.

Emphysema is incurable and progressive. It is treatable to a degree, but will never get better.
It’s a nasty condition, not something I’d wish on anyone.
Anyone that has a lung condition like asthma and has had real attacks knows how awful not being able to breathe is.
Despite the fact that her ills are self inflicted, it is an awful thing. Slow and painful. Better to go quickly, IMO.

If she has real emphysema at 24, it would probably be a blessing. Emphysema is one of those conditions that drives people to suicide.
About 20 years ago I had a bout with asthma that did not let me sleep or lay down for several days. Fully medicated I had to concentrate each breath in order to get some air. That was the first time I began to understand the despair than an emphysema sufferer could experience. In their case knowing that it will never improve.
I guess God was too busy to shed his grace on Amy.
That would be the Amy Crackhouse Dead Pool.
What, she sucked on the bong too hard? Or did she get some bad crack? She’ll just have to deal with the consequences, I guess.
