In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
janissary; noun
1often capitalized : a soldier of an elite corps of Turkish troops organized in the 14th century and abolished in 1826 2: a member of a group of loyal or subservient troops, officials, or supporters
Etymology: [Origin: 1520–30; < F janissaire < It gian(n)izzero < Turk yeniçeri, equiv. to yeni new + çeri soldiery, militia]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Has FR cooled its jets this AM? was getting squirrely msgs earlier today.
Some people born in Janissary are Capricorns and some are Aquariuses.
The site seemed to be squirrely much of the weekend, but I’ve had no probs this morning.

It was OK. Got toned out while in church, made it as far as the homily. Posted an update this morning to you in the old classroom.....I am getting my new computer desk! YEAH! He has to install a new cable to the end of the kitchen where I want it, so it will take a week or so till he gets to it. I cannot wait. It is the finishing touch to my kitchen redo!

Apparently a NYT Magazine janissary has declared that Sen McCain was a phoney POW. Appaarently there is no low to which they will not stoop. I have plenty of issues with the Candidate, but none should ever besmirch his Service and his years in captivity.

Actually, it’s a little more complex than even finding the job. It involves state licensure. Some states are more strict than others in their requirements for licensure. In some, such as Indiana and Kentucky, they will recognize the licensure exams that I have taken in the past.
Others require comprehensive testing on all aspects of medicine, not just my specialty. I had to take one of those in 1993 for Louisiana, and although I passed, it involved months of rigorous studying.

nothing. but i am happily married in VA. it is much like hearing someone complain about the dying economy in upstate NY; you can B!$CH about it, be unemployed and continue to live there, or you can move to where the jobs are, even if it means re-training and changing careers.

the xshousehold has been designated as the flophouse of choice for tonight by xsboy’s cronies. they returned, en masse, from CT, with their friend Andrew who is staying for a few days. we managed to stave them off because my FIL was visiting us this weekend, but my FIL goes home today, so the teenaged boy crew descends on us laster this afternoon.
nah, but he is probably wishing he hadn’t gotten out of bed, since i have been ragging on him to MOVE, today ; )
Janissaries is what we should call our meteorologists here. Instead of three days of 55 dew point, they decided to make it the 15th of June. It doesn't rain here in June. But yesterday was the beginning of the monsoon season. Bunch of idiots.
