My "Musicians Who Turn 60" posting a few months back was such a hit, that I decided to do a 50-year-old one.

Post your favorite photos!

I was confusing him with Thomas Dolby, who also turns 50 this year.

Stuart Adamson of Big Country would’ve turned 50 too. He died in 2001.

I know! We’re getting old....

The one musician that I was stunned to see turn 50 is Tanya Tucker. She looks way older than 50. Maybe the hard life she’s had has contributed to that, I’m sure.

From Wikipedia ( yes, I know )

snip-

“Christopher Walken portrays a character named Bruce Dickinson, who is identified as the producer of “(Don't Fear) The Reaper”. However, the song was actually produced by Sandy Pearlman [3]. Bruce Dickinson was a mid-level manager at Columbia Records whose name appears on a Blue Öyster Cult greatest hits CD as the “reissue producer.” This Bruce Dickinson is not the vocalist for British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, hence the humor in his boastful declaration of being “THE Bruce Dickinson”, as the character was based upon a far less famous figure than Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.”

Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden is the one who turns 50 this year.

He puts his pants on just like the rest of you - one leg at a time. Except, once his pants are on, he makes gold records.

Ah, Belinda. I saw her at the San Fernando Valley Fair when I was in 9th grade. It's amazing how hormones make you deaf. I hear her on the radio sometimes and think she sounds like a goat.

She looked particularly good in this video-- cigarettes and all.

How dare she mislead me into a life of addiction!!!!

Let's not forget that Belinda Carlisle (left in this photo, from 1979) was the first female rocker to use the headband and tied bows on her head, as seen in this very photo, at least 5 years before Madonna came into the music scene. Madonna copied a lot of style and fashion from Belinda.

Saw Joan Jett years ago at a real small venue. Around 1985. Shook her hand while she was on stage reaching into the crowd. Right before she stood up and started flipping sweat off her chin into the crowd. Seriously.

Saw Duran Duran in the summer of 2005. Nick Rhodes and Simon have both aged well. Andy Taylor and John Taylor, however, not so much.... I used to have a serious crush on John when I was a teenager, and during this concert I was 10 feet away from him for nearly 1 1/2 hours.... all I could think of was: “What the hell happened to you, John?!?....”
