Word For The Day, Day, Date

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
bowdlerize; verb
verb (used with object), -ized, -iz·ing. to expurgate (a written work) by removing or modifying passages considered vulgar or objectionable. Related forms bowd·ler·ism, noun bowd·ler·i·za·tion, noun bowd·ler·iz·er, noun
Also, especially British, bowd·ler·ise
Etymology: 1836, from Thomas Bowdler (1754-1825), English editor who in 1818 published a notorious expurgated Shakespeare, "in which those words and expressions are omitted which cannot with propriety be read aloud in a family."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
There is no doubt that the MSM will bowdlerize Obams past for general consumption.

No pushing at the door please!
IADT!
Howdy.
Good morning.
i KNEW you would say that! it took me an hour and a half to get in here, 45 min just to cross the dang Potomac, could have done it faster by SWIMMING!
howdy to YOU! : )
I can relate. I’m swamped here. I might not be able to post again until Wednesday morning when I open the classroom. Have fun.

Apple for Teachie.
verb (used with object), -ized, -iz·ing. to distort (a George W. Bush quote) by removing or modifying passages considered objectionable. Related forms Dowd·ler·ism, noun Dowd·ler·i·za·tion, noun Dowd·ler·iz·er, noun
Etymology: 2003, from Maureen Dowd (1952- ), New York Times columnist who in 2003 published a notorious expurgated President Bush quote, "Al Qaeda is on the run," President Bush said last week. "That group of terrorists who attacked our country is slowly but surely being decimated... They're not a problem anymore," when in fact President Bush said, "Al Qaeda is on the run. That group of terrorists who attacked our country is slowly but surely being decimated. Right now, about half of all the top Al Qaeda operatives are either jailed or dead. In either case, they're not a problem anymore."
that your mailbox? LOL! it is very cute. we were up in the Burgh overnight on Friday en route to OH. Ate din at the Max and Ermas in Monroeville and the kids and i went to the mall. Luckily the hampton inn permitted doggies, bc we had them with us and it was in the mid to upper 90s there.
A++++++++ excellent!! who knew you had it in ya, marteen! best homework, maybe of the year!
i may have nightmares from that pic! A+
btw, just FYI... visine gets the red out... ; )
The witch conceded, bowed her eyes
Her thoughts, we’d have to bowdlerize
How did a neophyte black
A political hack
Manage to kill and beshroud her prize?
>> kvelling <<
heard most of her speech. it was hilarious when chris wallace pointed out that she spent, tops, about 7 min talking about Obams and oh, 25-27 talking about herself. A+++
kvell: to be extraordinarily pleased; esp., to be bursting with pride, as over one's family. [Origin: 196570, Americanism; < Yiddish kveln be delighted; cf. MHG, G quellen well up, gush]
Good morning!
Bowdlerize is exactly what I have been doing all morning as we were dealing with trying to get the AC back working at the Lodge.
Plus like 110% humidity I betcha.
1st action on Obama’s part should he reach the Presidency is to bowlderize the Bill of Rights to his liking.
Isn’t Boulderize what the Libs do in that Colorado city to push through their agenda items?
A+++ hey, they let dogs roam free in stores, there, it ain’t all bad ; )
A++ i have no doubt that is what he would do and just pray to God he doesn’t get the chance to do it.
the humidity wasn’t horrendous, at least compared to down here.
I noticed that article mentions Obama was raised in a mostly secular household occasionally attending Christian churches.... and totally forgets his muslim step father and schools he attended.
yeah but his middle name and muslim connection was raised by several in the article, that stuff is out there.
Hmmm, I didn’t know that about Boulder...
(Of course, it lends a whole new meaning there to “clean-up in Aisle 5” ;)
Yeah but we have to count on voters being smart enough to connect the real information with what is being circulated as fact and determine the truth
well not positive about Boulder, it is true of Aspen and other parts of CO, so i am assuming it is true for Boulder as well. CO is extremely pet friendly. they permit pets OFF LEASH in the stores, restaurants and upper end hotels, in the off season. in high season, they are permitted in, but on leash.
i know southeastern OH and southwestern PA and they are not obama fans. this weekend at the grad party, xsgirls were chatting with the nephew to be’s mom and she has a Mccain=Bush’s 3d term bumpersticker, but she was a hillary voter. she said she no longer has a candidate and will likely not vote. not a fan of the obams.she is a Warren OH school teacher. i have also talked to a woman that teaches in Akron, same deal. the teachers are very leery of the obams, despite being lifelong dems.
I have a homeschooling friend who is a dem - I can’t seem to subtly explain to her that Dems are not usually pro-home schooling. I find it astounding that she can’t see that
we were talking about this in the car ride back from OH, that most people are not as hyperpolitical as we are. they have a kneejerk affiliation, dem or pub, but lack a political ideology to back it up. my kids can listen to what someone says and determine if they tend lib or conservative, most adults can’t even do that.
Here in the Republic de Chiile, wild dogs roam the streets everywhere. Not sure why they don’t do something to control them. Wherever you go, there one is.
when i was in Colombia it was little kids begging, they would come into restaurants and beg for the food on your plate.
I am [expletive deleted] never going to [expletive deleted] read any [expletive deleted] bowdlerized [expletive deleted] Shakespeare ever [expletive deleted] again. [expletive deleted]
I’ve seen a few beggars here, not kids, in the city. There’s one little old lady I’ve given some coins to a few times. It’s hard not to when you’ve got coins that are annoying to carry around and relatively worthless.
A+++ dang! LOL! excellent illustration of bowdlerization.
That is true - and most don’t have the reaction we have when we realize someone is a dumb ass lib..... ;^)
that makes sense. i would be less skeptical of beggars there, than here, when i see help wanted signs in the McDs and i am fairly certain these beggars are going to use the $ for dope or booze.
xsbrownie delighted her cousins with the story of her wearing her Friends don’t let Friends Vote Democrat Tshirt into the starbucks, before we left on Friday. Her cousins had been with her when she bought the shirt while they were visiting down here.
I’ve already bowdlerized my front yard of weeds for the third time this season. But they’re all gone again. You have to do it before it hits 100, otherwise, you’re a gonner. I can now see my indiginous flowers without a weed in the way. LOL!
Good morning, Miss Mommy!
My handyman is coming again today to paint the ceilings outside and paint posts. Cyber and I had trouble with the colors. But we came to an agreement. Thank goodness.
Have hundreds of Roma tomatoes on my Topsy Turvey tomato planters. It’s exciting. Going to get some more of those things for bell, red and yellow peppers. This is all experimental. If you can’t grow them in the ground, grow them upside down...
“IADT”
I am da first?
soon you’ll be making your own sauce there, slippy!!
Nah. Just got Nixon on the brain what with the talk of Gummint doing something about the price of gasoline.
First is with an F. Sheesh. I am da — what?
OH I’ve been wanting to buy those - where did you find them?
Marteen, Darling, if you say “Dowd,” you must ping Neo so he can put in a photo of Katherine Zeta Jones.
it’s about dang time, IADT.
