Today, Senator Clinton is expected to end her presidential bid and endorse BHO.
Negotiators for Israel and Palestine are drafting a Peace Pact even though there are numerous differences on many issues.
Belmont Stakes today. Will Big Brown win the Triple Crown?
Good morning.
Good morning Lysie. Breakfast today for me cinnamon and raisin bagel toasted with melted English butter yummy. All washed down with a fresly made cup of coffee.
Trying to decide tonight if I have chicken curry with rice or naan bread probably go for corriander and garlic naan.
Good Morning Everyone. There was no rain overnight.
cinnamon and raisin bagel toasted with melted English butter
One of my favorites.
No rain for your area is good news.
Finished the bagel and coffee now deciding what to do before shopping.
Below is a photo I took last week of a cycle path and field next door to our local supermarket ASDA (who are owned by Walmart). I have noticed a lot more America type goods and produce in the store since Walmart bought them out. The overflow car park sign refers to the designer outlet which is next door to ASDA
Interestingly enough though a lot of food stores seem to be having a push on American produce recently. You can easily get dried cranberries which at one time would have only been at specialist shops plus the German supermarket I normally use in the town centre now stocks ranch dressing which before there was a sort garlic and herb dressing but not real ranch dressing. Something which I love having been introduced to it by a couple of freepers.
Having said that Arsenal football club used to have a stand with smoked salmon and mayo bagels and they were lovely. I think they are slightly different bagel recipe to the ones that the Supermarket have that seem more dense and are probably designed to toast.
I actually prefer ASDA’s own to the other brand they have which they call New York Bagels I doubt they are anything like a New York Bagel. Is this just an English copy or is there actually a company or brand called New York Bagels sold in the States?
>>Will Big Brown win the Triple Crown?
Is the Pope Catholic?
It is my understanding that a New York Bagel is a type of bagel based on the ingredients and the way it is “cooked”.
peace pact=Israel surrender plan, IMO
The upshoot in oil prices has a huge headline in the WS Journal today. And a sub-text is
“...is sure to add fire to accusations that the gush in prices is largely the work of market speculators. “
The Dems say the oil companies are behind it but the Dems are the winners with high prices in an election year. Who might that be? Soros and friends? Muslims for Obama?
The world is gettting crazy.
agree about the bagel's dryness...Really, I'd never heard of them until we came back from living in S. Korea in 1974....then their popularity seemed to have spread outside the Jewish community, and they were a hot commodity. At least that was my impression. Another thing I noticed after 2 years overseas was that indoor plants were suddenly very popular! LOL!
I could get depressed over this, but I’m too stubborn. I plan on taking it in stride. We’ve been down this road before. Still, if Soros is behind this, I want heads to roll.
peace pact=Israel surrender plan
Exactly.
Wish we were at Bob Evans. That was great fun!
Exponential technologies.. the future is brighter than we think??
The audacity of the Dems Am. thinker
O's plan to disarm the U.S. IBD
I don't believe our country has moved as far left as O's plans for us. Whether the electorate wakes up in time from its delusional dreams is the key...the MSM certainly won't help spread the alarm..
good (warm) morning everyone.
Reading the paper outside in the cooler morning air is a treat.
Memorial service today at 2 for friend who died in March.
Yes, it was! Time has just flown since then...
Bill Monroe, the commonly acknowleged Father of Bluegrass Music once remarked about the bagel, “that’s the toughest donut I ever ate, and it wasn’t one bit sweet”.
Good morning everybody. I believe the TX Rangers got beat last night, we left at the top of the 9th in order to get ahead of the crowd and the score was 7-2 I believe. They were slightly in the lead until the 5th inning when Tampa Bay decided to wake up and play some baseball and that was all it took.
Still, it was lots of fun to be at the ballpark, after having both the Cubs and Sox teams to go see for so many years, I miss being able to easily go watch the games.
Daughter will be joining us in this area today, she had an interview during the last job fair and also a followup interview with the same schoool scheduled in a week or so. So, we are all hanging in there on that front as best we can.
"New York Bagels" is also a brand name; at least, here it is.
Excellent post!
Prayers up for daughter and a wonderful outcome.
Good morning, HOB.
Good Morning lysie. Nice breakfast. Good Morning Everyone.
I heard Big Brown has a cracked (?) hoof. Won’t running a race hurt the horse?
Good afternoon snugs. What is naan? Your breakfast sounds yummy. We’re having sausage and eggs with toast and of course coffee.
What is it with Olmert? Seems he has no courage when dealing with arabs. He give up too much of Isreals land, in my opinion.
>>good (warm) morning everyone.
I was outside for about 40 minutes yesterday and had to take a shower.
>>Wont running a race hurt the horse?
It’s minor and he had it the last three races as well.
BTW - did you see that video of the guy getting hit by a car and then no one comes to help him.
That’s a perfect video for the Republican’s A glance at the future. Obama’s world.
It is similar to pita bread but does not have a pocket in it.

Naan resembles pita bread and, like pita bread, is usually leavened with yeast; unleavened dough (similar to that used for roti) is also used. Naan cooks in a tandoor, or clay oven, from which tandoori cooking takes its name. This distinguishes it from roti which is usually cooked on a flat or slightly concave iron griddle called a tava.
Modern recipes sometimes substitute baking powder for the yeast. Milk or yogurt may also be used to give greater volume and thickness to the nan. Typically, the nan will be served hot and brushed with ghee or butter. It can be used to scoop other foods, or served stuffed with a filling: for example, keema naan is stuffed with a minced meat mixture (usually lamb or mutton); People in the UK incorrectly call it peshwari naan. It is actually Peshawari naan (actually most restaurants I have been to in Britain call it Peshawari). Peshawari naan and Kashmiri naan are filled with a mixture of nuts and raisins; aloo naan is stuffed with potatoes. Possible seasonings in the dough include cumin and nigella seeds. There is anothr naan that my local take-away does which I prefer which is a honey naan which has honey and almonds on top.
A typical naan recipe involves mixing white flour with salt, a yeast culture, and enough yogurt to make a smooth, elastic dough. The dough is kneaded for a few minutes, then set aside to rise for a few hours. Once risen, the dough is divided into balls (about 100 grams or 3½ oz each), which are flattened and cooked. In Indian cuisine, naans are typically graced with fragrant essences, such as rose, khus (vetiver), and kevra (a pine essence native to Southern India), with butter or ghee melted on them. Above info was from the net with me adding comments but I think it gives you the idea of what naan is. Best way to serve curry in my opinion not being a great rice eater.
"... we are a confection of normal (greedy, lustful, duplicitous, corrupt, inspiredin short, human) individuals living under a spectacularly effective compact called the Constitution, and lucky to get it."
Today is your Belmont Stakes and our Derby cannot remember that before.
The Derby always used to be on a Wednesday but of recent years it is held on a Saturday
This is ridiculous IMHO there are much better examples to argue against National Health care than Ted Kennedy's case. Ted Kennedy can afford to have the best treatment in the world anywhere in the world. This would not change under National Health care what you need to compare the average person's health coverage now and what it would be under National Health care because the average person could not afford to pay for both for all treatments.
In Britain my father is often forced to pay privately to go to see a specialist because under the NHS he would have to wait months.
The specialist then because we have paid him for the appointment will slot dad back into the NHS for treatment. A sort of capatialist bribe I suppose:o)
Thank you HOB!
Sorry I have been missing, been ‘stoved up’ (southern for not feeling good and hurting),go over to New Orleans next Tuesday to find out why I am hurting so bad from my operation, and I mean HURT too and the kids got me a new play toy, a riding lawn mower, now I have a tractor which will be paid off next month, my new toy, shovels hoes, weed eater, rakes, pitch fork, you name it and I got it, hoping to put them in use very soon. Ummmm, maybe they make a ‘yard cleaning’ pill”?
Now, politics, we are in a heck of a fix getting ready to slap us in the face and pocketbook, we ain't seen nothing yet, like McCain or not, time to band together and go with him or suffer like we have never done before. I have seen some Flem flam artist in my career in law enforcement but never one like Obama, we got troubles big time.
Finished another book a few ago, a good read, Shadows of Legion by Vernon Buford.
Well, time to get up and do nothing, orders from the ‘boss’ in the big house, think I will use this down time cleaning my ‘shack in the back’ which SIL got me a screen door for yesterday, put that swab of cotton on the upper right hand conner to keep the flied from trying to get in, yes, it works too.
Toby
Breakfast for me is a big ole bowl of grits with a tad of butter.
Well, eggs over cornbread is the greatest!
Hmmm! I’m not sure how to take that article by David Mamet. He may agree with Dr. Sowell and others , but I think his liberal leanings are smoldering inside him. After all, old habits are hard to break.
If you are not feeling well don't overdo.
Happy Birthday from all of us!
Happy Birthday. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Thanks so they have exported them to Britain then.
Prayers for your daughter
Well, I have made bagels only a couple of times but you have to let them sit overnite, then boil them, then let them dry, and then bake them. And you really have to use bread flour...;-))
Many happy returns of the day, till. I have really let my birthday duties slide...Guess it's time to reform...I'll check and see who's next to bug...HOB! HA!
