Good morning Lysie. Breakfast today for me cinnamon and raisin bagel toasted with melted English butter yummy. All washed down with a fresly made cup of coffee.
Trying to decide tonight if I have chicken curry with rice or naan bread probably go for corriander and garlic naan.

Below is a photo I took last week of a cycle path and field next door to our local supermarket ASDA (who are owned by Walmart). I have noticed a lot more America type goods and produce in the store since Walmart bought them out. The overflow car park sign refers to the designer outlet which is next door to ASDA
Interestingly enough though a lot of food stores seem to be having a push on American produce recently. You can easily get dried cranberries which at one time would have only been at specialist shops plus the German supermarket I normally use in the town centre now stocks ranch dressing which before there was a sort garlic and herb dressing but not real ranch dressing. Something which I love having been introduced to it by a couple of freepers.
Having said that Arsenal football club used to have a stand with smoked salmon and mayo bagels and they were lovely. I think they are slightly different bagel recipe to the ones that the Supermarket have that seem more dense and are probably designed to toast.
I actually prefer ASDA’s own to the other brand they have which they call New York Bagels I doubt they are anything like a New York Bagel. Is this just an English copy or is there actually a company or brand called New York Bagels sold in the States?

It is my understanding that a New York Bagel is a type of bagel based on the ingredients and the way it is “cooked”.

agree about the bagel's dryness...Really, I'd never heard of them until we came back from living in S. Korea in 1974....then their popularity seemed to have spread outside the Jewish community, and they were a hot commodity. At least that was my impression. Another thing I noticed after 2 years overseas was that indoor plants were suddenly very popular! LOL!
I could get depressed over this, but I’m too stubborn. I plan on taking it in stride. We’ve been down this road before. Still, if Soros is behind this, I want heads to roll.

Good morning everybody. I believe the TX Rangers got beat last night, we left at the top of the 9th in order to get ahead of the crowd and the score was 7-2 I believe. They were slightly in the lead until the 5th inning when Tampa Bay decided to wake up and play some baseball and that was all it took.
Still, it was lots of fun to be at the ballpark, after having both the Cubs and Sox teams to go see for so many years, I miss being able to easily go watch the games.
Daughter will be joining us in this area today, she had an interview during the last job fair and also a followup interview with the same schoool scheduled in a week or so. So, we are all hanging in there on that front as best we can.
"New York Bagels" is also a brand name; at least, here it is.

It is similar to pita bread but does not have a pocket in it.
Naan resembles pita bread and, like pita bread, is usually leavened with yeast; unleavened dough (similar to that used for roti) is also used. There is anothr naan that my local take-away does which I prefer which is a honey naan which has honey and almonds on top.

The dough is kneaded for a few minutes, then set aside to rise for a few hours. Once risen, the dough is divided into balls (about 100 grams or 3½ oz each), which are flattened and cooked. In Indian cuisine, naans are typically graced with fragrant essences, such as rose, khus (vetiver), and kevra (a pine essence native to Southern India), with butter or ghee melted on them. Above info was from the net with me adding comments but I think it gives you the idea of what naan is. Best way to serve curry in my opinion not being a great rice eater.

This is ridiculous IMHO there are much better examples to argue against National Health care than Ted Kennedy's case. Ted Kennedy can afford to have the best treatment in the world anywhere in the world. This would not change under National Health care what you need to compare the average person's health coverage now and what it would be under National Health care because the average person could not afford to pay for both for all treatments.
In Britain my father is often forced to pay privately to go to see a specialist because under the NHS he would have to wait months.
The specialist then because we have paid him for the appointment will slot dad back into the NHS for treatment. A sort of capatialist bribe I suppose:o)

Sorry I have been missing, been ‘stoved up’ (southern for not feeling good and hurting),go over to New Orleans next Tuesday to find out why I am hurting so bad from my operation, and I mean HURT too and the kids got me a new play toy, a riding lawn mower, now I have a tractor which will be paid off next month, my new toy, shovels hoes, weed eater, rakes, pitch fork, you name it and I got it, hoping to put them in use very soon. Ummmm, maybe they make a ‘yard cleaning’ pill”?
Now, politics, we are in a heck of a fix getting ready to slap us in the face and pocketbook, we ain't seen nothing yet, like McCain or not, time to band together and go with him or suffer like we have never done before. I have seen some Flem flam artist in my career in law enforcement but never one like Obama, we got troubles big time.

Well, I have made bagels only a couple of times but you have to let them sit overnite, then boil them, then let them dry, and then bake them. And you really have to use bread flour...;-))
