In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
abulia \uh-BOO-lee-uh; uh-BYOO-\, noun
Loss or impairment of the ability to act or to make decisions.
Example sentences:
I was suffering from an aboulia, you know. I couldn't seem to make decisions.
-- Anatole Broyard, "Reading and Writing; (Enter Pound and Eliot)", New York Times, May 30, 1982
There's little escape from her black hole of abulia.
-- James Saynor, "Woman in the Midst of a Nervous Breakdown", New York Times, June 12, 1994
Etymology:
Abulia derives from Greek a-, "without" + boule, "will." The adjective form is abulic.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Good Morning!
I’ve decided that this is my new favorite word. I’ll just blame my indecision on abulia!
No, wait! I’m not sure ... I can’t decide.

Abulia may occur in association with a variety of conditions, including stroke, brain tumor, traumatic brain damage, bleeding into the brain, and exposure to toxic substances.
Sounds like Ted Kennedy can be a prime example of this affliction. Good luck Ted.

so how did you fare yesterday? i guess there are still a
fair number here without power. i had trouble getting gas this AM because though their power was back on, their computers were not working. took me three gas stations before i found one that could dispense it. lots of lights are still out at intersections making the AM commute more time consuming. i guess Montgomery Co. school dist. is closed altogether bc of power outages. it is a sunny hot day though. 80 degrees at 7:30 am.

We got home just as the rain started last night. The storms Saturday night were actually worse than last night.
It’s actually a pretty day here, the real ugly heat isn’t supposed to start until the weekend.

we had a horrible storm Saturday also, typhoon-like actually. but it was much worse yesterday, as evidenced by all the lasting repercussions. there are actually a fair number of people out of the ofc today, probably bc they dno’t have power at home.

Groan. I was accepted for membership at age 16 based on my SAT scores, finally went to a meeting when I was 20 and have never gone back. Buncha weirdos and hippies.
Someone at the meeting asked me what I thought Nixon should do about ending the war in Vietnam. My reply was, “Incinerate the little b@$%rds and asphalt the whole country.” No one talked to me the rest of the night. Wonder why?

The apparent abulia on the part of Hillary early in the primaries along with the youthful ebullience of the Obama campaign has brought us to this point...

If democrat Superdelegates enter the convention with
abulia,
Mo Dowd worries that hillary might still take the fight to the convention.
And she might have good reason to be concerned: Superdelegates can switch
Neither Barack Obama (1750) nor Hillary Clinton (1624.5) has won enough elected delegates from the popular vote in the actual primaries and caucuses to hit the delegate number needed (2118) to seal the nomination. That brings us to the one important thing that the major media (but not AT) aren't sharing with the public right now. Obama's nomination is secured only by the promised votes of the Democratic superdelegates -- and they are free to change their pledged support as often as they like, even right up until the time they place their vote at the Democratic convention in August. They are not bound to any candidate in any way, other than by their own word. As Obama has surpassed the 2118 delegate number by virtue of the changing whims of superdelegates once pledged to Hillary Clinton, can't the opposite happen between now and August?
hillary is like Michael Myers in Halloween -- no matter how many times you see him utterly obliterated (even decapitated) you just know that he will somehow come back to inflict more carnage. Don't put away the popcorn just yet!

I just checked my email box. She sounds like she’s conceding and it is right from the horses mouth.
“Dear Mark,
I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you.
On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans. “
