I use a prepaid calling card for long distance. Does anyone know of one where I do not have to press 1 for English? MCI-Verizon require it.
Mexico?
You are going to have to find a very small, domestic-only company. Most of the big names are international companies and have a large Spanish speaking customer base. Look at the bright side, pressing 1 for English splits the queue to multiple call centers (Spanish or English) so you don’t have to wait as long in queue.
The venal business types are looking for more profit while driving this country towards a two-language separation. The ramifications for this practice is devastating, but that doesn't matter to our "get fast bucks at any price" crowd.
If our immigrants sincerely want to be Americans, they need to learn clear, functional English - not be supported in their separate language by the illegal invasion crowd or the profiteers.
Good for you. Whenever I encounter that “For English, push 1” nonsense, I let the business know my opinion. And, if possible, I terminate my dealing with them.
Do what I do. Take the spanish and insist they speak only English. If they are bilingual (most cases) you tied up a spanish speaker. If they have to transfer you, you increased their call response time. Win Win.
Thanks!
