LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A giant inflatable pig that went missing from a Southern California music festival at the weekend has been found in tatters in a desert town.
The pig, which has been a signature Pink Floyd stage prop since its appearance on the 1977 cover of "Animals" featuring the song "Pigs on the Wing," broke away from its tethers on Sunday night at Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival.
The festival organizers offered a $10,000 reward for the two-story inflatable pig belonging to ex-Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters.
Two couples said on Wednesday they had found the shredded plastic remains of the pig outside their homes.
The pig, bearing political slogans and the word "Obama" next to a ticked ballot box for U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, was used by Waters during his set at the festival in the desert east of Los Angeles.
Steve Stoltz found a big pile of shredded plastic in his La Quinta, California, driveway early on Monday morning when he went to get his newspaper.
"We didn't even know what it was then, but that's all I hear about now," his wife Susan Stoltz told Reuters.
Her neighbor, Judy Rimmer, found an even bigger pile in her driveway. Since then the neighbors have shared several pork jokes, she said.
"My sons who are in their 20s will think I'm pretty cool," said Susan Stoltz.
At first the couples thought they were victims of a practical joke. But after reading mass media coverage of the missing pig they contacted festival organizers who authenticated the remains.
"They were really anxious to have the pig's remains, but we kept souvenirs," Susan Stoltz said.
Stoltz said the two couples will split the $10,000 reward offered by the festival organizers and will each get four festival tickets for life.
There is a clear shot of a red anarchist symbol on the front left leg of the pig. Unfortunately the one I see is a Getty Image on the CNN site (link here):

I don't think we can post Wired images either. But this blog has a picture of the graffiti artist doing his work on the pig:

A fat bald man (who goes by the name 'Slick') with no shirt and droopy drawers. Question authority. Including the authority of Obamaniac Socialists.
Rock and Roll/Houston PING.
The Anarchists for Obama pig has been found. It popped and landed in a couple of peoples’ yards (and they kept parts).
Doesn’t look like Obama pig will be on display at Rog’s Woodlands/Houston show this weekend.
I don’t suppose they also found the shredded remains of a helicopter or ultralight in the same neiborhood, huh?
Yikes. “Neighborhood.”
I used to be a huge Roger Waters fan. But he's a leftist, drug-addled, anti-American dinosaur now. The journey of this stupid inflated pig is an allegory of Waters' career.
Roger’s always been a leftist. His wife at the time of DSOTM was probably even more Leftist.
And Syd was the hasher and tripper.
The other Pink Floyds were into beer and soccer.
I’ve seen plenty of what he has had to say and Nick Mason is QUITE the socialist as well...
It landed just over the Bacon County Line...
” His political views are ridiculous, but they are neither relevant nor important for me to enjoy his work. “
Not a RW fan ...but well said . I venture to say that 9 out of 10 artists I listen to are ( or have listened to since I got into rock in the 60’s ) lefties or leaning to the left . Like yourself , I don’t let that fact get in the way of my enjoying their work .

Metaphor for Obama's campaign. ;)
How much did you pay for tickets? I ask because I wanted to see Jimmy Buffet when he was here 4/21. But at the cost of $167.00 per person plus processing fee and parking, I realized at the the of the day, he was just another pirate looking at his 401K, not wasting away in Margaritaville. Even socialists have their price, don’t they..
$30 to be a fool on the hill. Better than $200+fees to a million dollar marxist.
Where do you draw the line, when ‘genius’ work includes veritable calls to anarchy and deliberately blasphemous references to Jesus (such as their old song SHEEP if I recall correctly) and your album/ticket purchase or radio listenership provides them gate fee percentages or royalties that subsidizes their message and lifestyle?

As I said , I am not a Rogers Waters fan , so he doesn’t get a dime from me personally . Many moons ago ( 70’s ) I bought a couple of Pink Floyd albums .
I only artist I supported in the past who came close to blasphemy was XTC who recorded a song entitled DEAR GOD . It was a controversial song to say the least because of its anti-God sentiment which might be interpreted as either dystheism or atheism. It was not a part of the original Skylarking album that I bought on Virgin Records , but after DJs across America picked up the song, Geffen Records ( USA ) decided to replace song “Mermaid Smiled” with “Dear God.” So thanks to a USA record company and USA DJs it was released .

Is this pig an allegory of Obama's campaign?
Coachella tickets for life? not bad...
Pigs CAN fly!
