Did you read my post?

I said: “We are to use Godly principles because in the end we are responsible for how we handle our stewardship”. This covers how you treat God’s creation.

Find in the Bible where it says I am wrong.

All I see is how you 'SHOCKED' your students by telling them they can do 'what they want with their 'pets'.' You wrote it:
I shocked my high school Sunday School class ( just the girls ) the other day by telling them that animals ( their pets ) have no souls and we men have dominion over them to do as we see fit.

And you do not KNOW that animals have no souls.

They were not happy to hear that Fluffy won’t be resurrected.

Breaking hearts on your personal assumptions......that's mean.

Take it with a grain if salt. I gave you the crux of an hour class. We discussed in depth how one should treat animals and the ramifications of not upholding God’s intent for His animals. In the end however He told Adam they are here for us.

If they did the Bible would be in dog translation as well. Animals were not created in His image.

He told Adam they are here for us.

This has a W I D E interpretation.....and it's a dangerous one.

You are getting awful close to New Age doctrine. We, humans, are created in His image and thus fell from Grace and had to be saved. I don’ recall any stories of animals being forbidden from eating the fruit or being punished for doing do.

Again, find me a Bible verse that says I am wrong. Whether you like it or not God places value on His people, all people, and for anyone to choose an animal over a human is wrong. No matter how vile a person is they come before animals in the pecking order. If you don’t like it talk to God.

I loved it!!!

Here’s my latest find on youtube...pretty amazing, a 2 year old sings The Lord’s Prayer and manages to stay pretty much on pitch for much of the song.

Given the unrealistic expectations of women these days about how a “relationship” is to be conducted? Yeah, I think I’d rather have a friendship with an adult jaguar.

It’s safer and less likely to leave me destitute.

The whole conversation started when during the lesson about the Great Commission one girl commented that she didn’t think some people deserved going to heaven and I told her none of us do. She did not like that.

She wanted to get off into who deserved it and popped off that her pet horse and dogs are a better persons than some. I argued over the term “person” and said she maybe right in terms of what you maybe fond of, but the Bible teaches us to love every one as we love ourselves, as hard as that may seem. This young lady wanted to “converse more” and began asking questions that led me to believe she did not have a grasp ( and some others too ) on what makes us special over all of creation.

So again point me to a verse where I am wring and I will gladly correct myself Sunday morning.

“I suppose the point is that relationships with animals are more valuable than relationships with other people.”

It reminds me of how relationships with animals can enhance our lives. There have been many times that my babies (cats) have comforted and been there for me when no one else was around.

So because you see no stories of animals eating fruit, you think they have no souls? I'm not saying they do...I'm saying we DON'T KNOW.
I also did not say anyone had to choose animals over people....in what context are you talking about??? I see a few people who spam this kind of thread with those kind of comments. What are you talking about? Are you saying I'm evil and going to hell for taking in a homeless cat instead of a homeless person? Are you saying your student Johnnie goes home and slices up Fido because he needed socks and that's ok? Are you saying it's ok to leg trap a cat because it walked on your grass?

What, you'd prefer those guys be kissing each other instead of the animals? Sheesh.

What if Johnnie needed socks? What if he was cold and wanted to make deer leather moccasins for his feet. Are you saying he is wrong to put his needs above those of animals?

No Fawn. Take a deep breath. If such an important issue was true I think God would have let us know.

I do not think you are evil. The Johnie scenario is wrong in today’s world, but were earlier ancestors wrong when they killed animals for clothing. God killed some to cloth Adam and Eve when they were cast from the garden.

I can see you are empathetic to all of God’s creatures and that is good. I will say that I firmly believe God gave us creatures to use that is why they are not covered under “thou shalt not murder”. He allows us to hunt ( and I do ) because he said we could. I also used to raise beef for slaughter to help feed people. Is that wrong. God did not intend for us to be vegetarians or we’d have a rumen system.

I don't’ agree that animals have no souls.....I've heard other religious people explain that they do. But, I believe that we DON'T know. And for you to tell your students that they don't is unfair.
Many an animal have saved lives and soothed souls of people.....I believe some are angels sent by God. Anyway, your first post just got me riled...

No, but if they at least looked at each other now and again, maybe had a conversation, the differences wouldn’t have been quite so stark.
