STIFFED by their superstar brother Michael and plagued by decades of bad fiscal decisions, the once-mighty Jackson family is barely scraping by, with one brother stocking groceries, another repairing cars and others living at home with mom while hoping for sister Janet's next handout.
They have fallen far from their days as sequin-studded stage stars who could rake in seven-figure paydays for a single performance. Then they were the Jackson Five, the undisputed kings of Motown, a Berry Gordy-led, bell-bottomed global phenomenon.

get barney frank on this. there must be regulation.
I remember seeing “Video Killed the Radio Star” the first time it aired. Going along with that, we had “Thriller”.
Now, Thriller was good. Real, real good. It was then and it is now.
But Thriller was only about 25% Jackson
Quincy, baby! Quincy made Thriller.
I thought my opinion of Michael Jackson couldn’t possibly sink any lower. Well, I was wrong.
Meanwhile, the Jackson’s opposite numbers, the Osmonds, are busy making gazillions. The Osmonds are still together, helping each other when a family crisis hits, and leading well adjusted lives.
The Jacksons, OTOH, jumped the shark decades ago.
The family should write a book detailing ALL of the gloved-one’s escapades. They would make a fortune.
Why was Michael Jackson spotted at K-Mart?
He heard boys pants were half off.
It entertainment - Dumb people get a truckload of money and proceed to spend 2 truckloads of money. Whichever one got the job stocking grocery shelves get my votes for having some good sense and character.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving dysfunctional family.
Michael and Janet - never photographed together; never seen in public together; never same place/time together..
Discuss...
You mean “weguwation”.
Michael won’t support his brothers because “they aren’t little boys anymore”.
The stuff he did in the 80’s, Thriller and Bad, etc. that was all kinda sorta Motowns last gasp...

I'd hit it...........
Unbelievable.
Uh, yaaaaaaaaaa!
Yes, that was my first thought. Quit protecting this pedophile, write a book and rake in the money. Michael should be in prison and his children should be in a decent family.
my bad.
Which part ? That he was stupid enough to talk his friends into loaning Michael money ? That Michael stiffed him ?
I thought it was Michael and LaToya.
i’ll bet NOW they wished they’d put all that money in municipal funds
Originally, it was Michael and Diana Ross, but I saw a photo-op years ago that smashed that one....
Both. Randy was stupid to talk his friends into mortgaging their homes for Michael. His friends were stupid for doing it. But Michael is purely evil for taking the money and not paying it back.
A root of bitterness has torn this family asunder.
Think of how cheap they could have gotten the stocks at 100,000 a month in 1980. Talk about some holding.
It's Michael and LaToya who are really the same person -Look at their pictures
No, no, no. Mikey and LaToya both have the same ‘nose’ Version 7.0...
Are we supposed to feel sorry for them?
They made lots of money, screwed up royally and lost it all - hey thats not my fault.
Well, there is still the brother raking in millions as an Americans Idle judge!
Needless to say this is all Bush’s Fault.
Naaah....
The blue eyed white devils sucked the brains out of their heads and made them do stupid things......
That “family” pissed away more money, which conservatively invested - would have handsomely supported a few thousand families with respectable and comfortable lifestyles....
Now they are not only broke - but owe 10s of Millions!
I honestly do not buy for a minute their claim that he is trying to sabotage their careers. First, none of them really had careers outside of working with Michael. He recorded with them and even toured with them at a time that NOBODY would pay to see anyone but Michael. Second, and more importantly, the family would not have hesitated to sue him.
What we have here is some people trying to guilt Michael in to giving them more handouts, which he probably couldn't afford even if he wanted to, plus a hack trying to sell more copies of his book.
I can't stand Michael as a person, but he's done more than enough for his family. And if they squandered their millions, that's not his problem anymore.
Janet gave Michael his Video Vanguard Award on MTV, so it’s not Janet.
Wrong Randy Jackson.
No..no. That is not Randy ‘The Littlest Jackson5’ Jackson...its ‘Randy Jackson.’ (Not related at all).
I don’t know what diet girlfriend goes on, but man, she should market it. Quick.
“Don’t fake the funk or your nose will...oh, never mind.”
—Bootsy Collins
No, no. The Big Dawg is, so far as I know, no relation whatsoever to the Jacksons with the plastic-surgery addiction.
It’s truly sad, because at one point, there was no one more exciting as an entertainer than MJ. “Thriller” remains a classic. I even liked “Dangerous” and “Black and White.”
How in the world can anyone make triangular nostrils?
Hey, he looks like Billy Bob Thornton in that shot.
I was eating dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco in 1974 when the entire family sat down at the table across from me.Blew my mind!
I have been a J-5 fan from the beginning and was probably the only white guy at their August,1971 show at the Cow Palace.AND probably the OLDEST non parent there at age 24.The show was absolutely superb.
I don’t understand at all why Jermaine is broke and can’t get work.He was lead singer on some of the group’s best material like One More Chance and Mama,I Found That Girl. You would think some place in Vegas could set him up as a lounge act.
But the article really emphasizes the point-My,how the mighty have fallen.
Not true. They appeared together in his video for "Scream."
According to a book written by Bob Jones, former longtime director of communications, Michael has several times taken affirmative steps to impede his siblings' careers.
Jones also wrote in the book that when one of his brothers (I forget which) got a record contract for a group made up of some of his children, Jacko pulled strings among radio, video and distribution bigwigs to make sure the group could never be a threat to him.
"We were always ordered by Michael to keep his family away from his offices and out of his business," [Jones] said. "He hated them. He wanted them broke. Michael even refused to allow Jermaine, who had come over to Europe to see one of Michael's concerts about a decade ago, to guest on 'I'll Be There.' Jermaine was devastated."
Janet is too big for him to control (pun not intended), but he does what he can to keep the family on a leash, according to all independent sources.
Silly Putty ?
As the story goes, this was the most expensive video in history at the time. You would think they could have at least shot it in color.
Sound like a racist plot. Call Jesse and Al. Somethings not kosher.
No, Global warmings fault.
Jackson wouldn’t ever have had the name he got if it wasn’t for Quincy Jones.
