13-month-old a finalist in TV hunt for beautiful baby

ROCKFORD -- Every parent thinks his or her child is the most beautiful in the world.
Now Stephanie and Samuel Starkey, of Rockford, have credentials to back that up.
Their 13-month-old son, Corbin, has been named by "Live With Regis and Kelly" as a top five finalist in the show's Beautiful Baby Search.
"I just happened to watch the show one day, and they mentioned to send in a picture of your baby if you think they would have a chance to win," said Stephanie, 28. "So I sent it in not thinking twice about it."
The Starkeys were scheduled to appear on the show with Corbin this morning. This afternoon, Corbin will be part of a Parenting Magazine photo shoot with the other finalists. A segment on the shoot will air Thursday.
Based on the results of the photo shoot, the winner will be announced Friday. The winning baby will appear on the cover of an upcoming issue and will receive $125,000 toward a college education. The four others will split $100,000.
The contest was launched five years ago and has steadily increased in popularity among viewers, executive producer Michael Gelman said.
"The entries this year were double last year's, and the voting broke all records on our Web site," he said.
The pressure is on for little Corbin. The winner will be determined solely by today's photo shoot.
No matter how the contest turns out, the Starkeys are glad their son's charm has been recognized.
"Obviously, being a mom, I think my baby's beautiful," Stephanie said. "It's such a good feeling to have somebody else think that, too."

I saw the picture on the news last night.
The baby is ‘breathtaking.’

From the article: “will receive $125,000 toward a college education”. That would be important I suppose. Should cover at least one year in 17 years :)

All babies are beautiful. Proclaiming one or a few beautiful puts children on the same level as show dogs.

My granddaughter (3 in this picture) is a bit old for this, but I know another Piper who'd qualify...

And in the grand scheme of things, having the most beautiful baby is important because......Well, duh!!! It pays for college!
Although none could hold a candle to my kiddies- there's just nothing quite like a halo to give them that special....something.
:o)

LOL.... what’s funnier is that I had two absolutely gorgeous little girls and never needed their obvious beauty validated by a tv show, a contest, or anyone else. All kids go through phases of beauty.... and there’s always the “ugly duckling” stage at around 11 or 12 (which they DO outgrow). But imagine the hit to their ego when that happens if their entire worth appears to be their looks.

A while back, I invited some people over to see our new house. One of the women I worked with brought the framed 11x14 of her child - right off her wall and told us all to sit down before she showed us the picture because we'd all be knocked off our feet by how beautiful her precious was.
Needless to say, we didn't lose anyone that evening.

LOL...you were all just being brave!
One in my circle of acquaintances always sends out Christmas photocards (the one w/the family picture on it...you can do your own at Target, but these come from a photographer). Anywho...since she spends sooooooo much money to photograph her gorgeous children (matching outfits too)...she expects her Christmans card to be 'displayed' when she visits her friends at the holidays...the card isn't to be mixed w/the Hallmarks...no siree...she wants it 'shown'.
Needless to say people have had 'fun' with her cards. It thought thats were you were going...that your friend brought her framed kids' photo to your house to put on your wall...LOL...

Jerry: Is it me or was that the ugliest baby you have ever seen?
Elaine: Uh, I couldn’t look. It was like the Pekinese.
Jerry: Boy, a little too much chlorine in that gene pool.
Elaine: Oh, you have to lie.
Jerry: It’s a must lie situation.

Oh, man...biased or not, you’ve got a cutie there. She’d make it through several rounds of voting, if not all the way.
Our son and daughter-in-law had the opportunity to make that choice - enter a contest, or not. They decided not to, because they didn’t want to go through all the publicity.

Thanks, that's my almost-7-month-old princess. My SIL entered her daughter in a contest, "for the fun of it..."
The kid won, somehow.
I refuse to enter my kids in contests, though. God knows we have plenty of work with them:

Her oldest brother

Her second brother
