She doesn’t look THAT bad. And, although I’d guess she’s a true-blue liberal, I can’t recall her ever spouting off her “political opinion” for my edification. She just does her job, and sings. Really well.
So, correct me if I’m wrong, but give me Aretha Franklin over Kanye West and his ilk any day of the week!

I actually enjoyed the Grammy’s this year for the 2 hours I was tuned in. The shut up an sang for the most part which made it very enjoyable. I could even listen to the RAP without the usual mute.
I guess the only pathetic moment was the Keanye West (sp?) drivel at the mike.

Just watched the Blues Brothers in HD last week, what a great soundtrack!

Aretha appears tonight dressed in the latest fashion, a screaming yellow taffeta designed by Kelty for the new Coleman Collection. It features three zippered doors, an oversized rainfly, full water resistant bathtub floor and over 60 sq. feet of no-see-um bug screening, all in a dayglo yellow so you can find your way back after that late night latrine run.

Leave Aretha alone! She has a weight problem, but at least she isn’t wearing spandex bicycle shorts and a tube top.

I guess the only pathetic moment was the Keanye West (sp?) drivel at the mike. If that was the guy who they tried to cue the music while he was talking about God and his Mama, it was my favorite speech.

I saw them when they played JMU back in the mid 80's. My buddy managed to catch them out back after the show and got a photo with Nancy hanging her arm around him and hugging him, talk about jealous...

I watched them too (just to see the Hairspray album lose to ANOTHER Beatles remake-poo)
But, seeing Tina Turner perform “Proud Mary” with Beyonce was worth EVERY minute I spent wondering who people were. When I’m Tina’s age, I want to move that well. I sure don’t now!
Aretha singing Gospel was positively thrilling. No matter what she was wearing. She was past amazing!!!!!

Sometimes FReepers can be so crass.
I’ll never forget when Nell Carter died. Half the thread turned into fat jokes.
It was disgusting.

But on another thread, folks snark about “no one has the right not to be offended”.
If ya don’t like the way someone looks, deal with it! According to some, the majority of the human race should never leave theThat’s life. Aretha is alive and still singing. That’s a blessing.
