The TBS channel is currently airing their 24 hour marathon of the Christmas classic: A Christmas Story.

A Christmas Story House Website
How Hollywood's wackiest holiday film gave this fan a new direction
We’ve just finished opening the gifts, and I flipped on the set to TBS and the kids just dropped everything and became entranced. What a terrific movie.
You’ll shoot your eye out.
It was the soap...
Believe it or not, I’ve never seen the movie.
I’ve always prefered “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
My wife thinks I’m nuts for not even WANTING to see the movie.
I remember when it came out in the theatres, but it just never interested me.
I wonder if I am the only US citizen to not have seen it.
Anyway, Merry Christmas!
Fra ra ra ra ra
ra ra ra ra.
Mr. M has on “A Christmas Carol” with the Star Trek guy. The old black and white version was the best.
So, what awful pink bunny pj gift did y’all get get this year?
Its ok if you prefer Its A Wonderful Life, but arent you the least bit curious to see what the fuss is all about? :-)
By the way, here's the schedule for the remainder of the marathon:

12:00 pm, tuesday, december 25th
2:00 pm, tuesday, december 25th

My family and I will attend the Christmas Eve service at our church and go to a Chinese restaurant for dinner; that is a family tradition," he said.

I’m still decking my halls with Bews of Horry.
Merry Christmas.
Shatner? ;-)
The old black and white version was the best.
The 1951 version with Alastair Sim
So, what awful pink bunny pj gift did yall get get this year?
My credit card bill.
I wonder if he ever got Black Bart?
One of the great Christmas movies. I caught the midnight showing and will see it another one or two times. It’s so perfect TBS does the 24 hour thing.
Merry Christmas.
Nowf youf tellf me.
:-)
Yes......soap poisoning.......that’s what happened to me! (I didn’t go blind, but it made me a Conservative!)
“...Bews of Horry.”
:-)
Today a kid would risk going to prison for bringing a red ryder bb gun to school.
This is my favorite Christmas movie!
Im still decking my halls with Bews of Horry.
It must be from France ? FRAG-GILLIE!!!
Dear, I think it says, frag-ile
My seven year old opened up his brand new Red Ryder last night. He loves it!!!!
Building up arm strength trying to cock it as I write.
I was sad-en last year to learn of the death of Darren McGavin and, now this year the producer has passed away. :’(
I have the DVD and the book version. Next year if I go to Cleveland I plan to visit the house and the Chinese
restaurant used in the movie.

I guess they have “memberships” (the Christmas Story House),
and I’m not making these up (from a page on the site):
The Old Man Senior Membership $45.00
Double Dare Individual Membership $55.00
Double Dog Dare Membership $75.00
“Triple Dog Dare Membership $175.00
Oh Fudge Membership $300.00
Nope .. I've never seen it also
Merry Christmas
if you mean Bob Clark, he was the film's director (and also did the sequel--yes there is one--"My Summer Story"). Clark and his son were killed in a car crash caused by a drunk illegal alien.
My Summer Story, aka "It Runs in the Family", is pretty good and is also narrated by Jean Shepherd. Charles Grodin plays "the old Man". There's a top-spinning contest, the saga of "not yet another Ronald Coleman gravy boat!" at the movie house, and a fishing trip. Also a war between the Parkers and the hillbilly next door neighbors, the Bumpuses. You'll remember their hounds from the first movie.
I always remember Peter Billingsley as “Messy Marvin” from the Hersey’s Syrup commercials.
It has been a tradition for Jewish families for many years to go to a movie on Christmas, followed by Chinese food. Is Huck trying to go for the Jewish vote?
Never seen it?
Read the following and see if you are not tempted:

Wasn’t he also in those Malt O’Meal commercials, “Good stuff,
Maynard!” :-)
I love Ralphie and the Christmas Story. Wonderful movie. Of course “It’s a Wonderful Life” is the number one movie for me!! :-)
(Although Heat Miser and Snow Miser run a close second...)
I’m a long time reader of Shepherd’s stories the movie is great the short story and Ollie Hopnoodles haven of bliss are classics.. The movies don’t do them real justice. The “Old Man” is much too tame LOL
>>It has been a tradition for Jewish families for many years to go to a movie on Christmas
The college radio station I’ve volunteered for has a 45 from
the 1980s— the band is “Tommy and The Greyhounds”—
called “It’s A Technicolor Christmas When You’re Jewish
(Because the Moviehouses Never Close)”:
...when you get tired of playing Monopoly
and listening to the radio
While others are enjoying all those Christmas treats
No ushers there to tell us, “Get your feet off the seats”...
...While other kids are riding in an open sleigh
We’ve got a date with Yentl on this special day...

(zip file; also includes Tom Lehrer’s “I’m Spending
Chanukah in Santa Monica”)
Am not Jewish, but I do enjoy novelty songs of all kinds.
“I like the Wizard of Oz. I like the Tin Man.”
I remember taking my nephew to see that movie at the movie theatre when it first came out.
That's what Buckeye fans were saying last January 8.
Channel 11 from NYC is running the Yule Log until 1pm.
Only they weren’t saying “Fudge.” ;)
Consider it a Christmas present that has remained unopened for 20 years. Go ahead and open it this year! I envy you, knowing what awaits.
It is a delightful movie not just because of the gentle and wacky good humor--and instantly memorable characters--from beginning to end. It is a throughly and genuinely American movie in ways that only Americans can fully appreciate. It shares that deep quality with Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life." That is why both films have become treasured family classics.
Does TBS do this commercial free?
Nope. It has commercial interruptions.
