Led Zeppelin have given a clear hint that they are thinking about staging a full-scale tour after their reunion gig next month.
Speaking to Guitar World magazine in the States, guitarist Jimmy Page suggested the one-off show may lead to something bigger.
"It's a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand," he said.
Until now, the band had said they were only planning to do the one show at the O2 Dome, in honour of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
But following what Page described as the "overwhelming" reaction to the show, clearly they are re-thinking things. It's estimated up to 20 million people applied for just 18,000 tickets.
"It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle," he said.
The show has been delayed while Page rests a broken finger on his left hand. He got the injury when he tripped over a paving slab in the dark.
"The light was very dim and I tripped over something and I landed on various bits of my anatomy but of course the crucial part was left hand, little finger," Page has previously told Sky News.
The rescheduled gig at the O2 Arena will now take place on December 10.
Ping! ;)
Is Jimmy Page going to bring the studio with him or add about six extra guitarists?
I’m holding out for the Blue Cheer reunion.
Now, now. So long as they haven’t yet reached “The Who Reunion Tour #9,012” levels of absurdity... ;)
Imagine being a roadie for the Starland Vocal Band; or working security for Toni Tenille’s mosh pit. ;)
I would love to see them again. The one and only time I saw them was around '76-'77. I didn't find them to be all that great in concert, but it's being able to say you were there that matters, I guess.
You mean something like KISS’ 65th or 70th greatest hits album?
... or, even more ludicrous still: the eleventeen zillionth live Grateful Dead multi-disc set. ;)
It’s just that they sound terrible live. Page is a studio musician
No kidding. The only one with more rehashed albums are probably the Stones. I think every second album of Mick & company since 1975 has been a “greatest hits” or “live” album.
< Standard Ringo Cheap Shot>"... but, even if one were to merge both bands: they'd STILL be lacking a drummer!" < /Standard Ringo Cheap Shot>
Sorry. Reflex. ;)
I agree. They are very much a "studio" band and they aren't that good live. I remember seeing "the Cars" and "Boston" and they were both terrible Live also. Some bands re best only meant to be heard "non-live".
Ringo's son Zach is the drummer for the Who in their concerts.
Oh, goody, more over-the-hill rockers
Ok, but what kind of music would they play, pray tell? I don’t see them doing “yellow submarine”...
I saw the Page/Plant reunion tour in ‘95 and it was extraordinary. Plant was as energetic as a kid (or a Steven Tyler- very surprising) and Page was excellent- not quite as showy as in ‘73 or’75, but better than ‘77 or’79.
Don’t count the balloon out yet. I bet they’ll surprise everybody. If they were going to be a let-down, I’m positive Plant wouldn’t do it.
Bonham is dead.......”Led Zeppelin” no longer exists.
Why do certain people always say things like this? If you don't care why go on this thread? Wouldn't avoiding it be easier? I do that with RAP "music" =)
He was one of the main ingredients in the Led Zepplin sound.
It's kind of like the Beatles without John and George ... it's incomplete.
Still would be nice to see them though (Zeppelin)
Didn’t care for them then, abdo-lutely no interest now. Never could handle the screeching vocals. Made my ears hurt! Much rather see Jeff Beck again, or the Mothers, even without Frank!
I could always start a Rascal Flatts thread, if that'd make you any happier. ;)
Go watch the Earl’s Court footage from ‘75 on the Led Zeppelin DVD and tell me they weren’t a great live band. Please.
Page in his heyday was the most sloppy guitarist I’ve seen .Probably one of the most stoned on stage I’ve ever seen as well. I love ZEP but live they are usually horrible.
Plant I understand has lost much of his signature vocal ability. It comes with age .
Dude! You weren't at the Chet Helms Family Dog memorial show in Golden Gate Park in October, 2005?
Awesome show, dude!

"Stairway to Heaven" was written BEFORE Led Zepplin was formed? Are you sure, I thought it was written by Page around 1973 long after he had left the Yardbirds?
I saw them live, they sucked.
that was 30 year ago my friend...i doubt they could come close. Yes, once and awhile they did pull it together live and actually kick butt.
This is news??? More like a memo to the senior citizens party crowd.

Shake for me, girl.
I wanna be your backdoor man.
Gee that “Eric Clapton” sure looks exactly like Jimmy Page playing the ARMS benefit in 1983 AFTER there was a Led Zeppelin.
This might shock you, but my 20 year old daughter and her friends like Zeppelin. So do millions of others under the age of 40. It's like saying the Beatles and Stones only have fans in their 50's or 60's. Grow up, man, some bands appeal to many age groups.
LOL. That’s funny.
My wife laughed so hysterically at this, her face actually turned red. ;)
If you don’t even know what Jimmy Page LOOKS like, why are you posting to this thread?
Must be a slow news day for some people.
I thought that then and still do now. I have the somewhat-recently-released How the West Was Won 3-CD package recorded over two nights in L.A. in 1972. It is fun to listen to and it rocks, but they just aren't that good. The Who played awesome shows in '72 and beyond. The Stones, ditto. Zep always was a lot of hype. Talented musicians for sure and a lot of their studio stuff is still great today, but as a live act it really was mostly bluster and bombast.
Easiest Gig In Rock’N’Roll History: guarding Carnie Wilson and/or Leslie West from molestation by lust-crazed fans. ;)
The Who absolutely ROCK in concert. I have never seen them live but I’ve seen a lot of footage from their shows .... the prototype for a band on stage.
I was at the Led Zeppelin concert in the Filmore West in San Francisco in 1969... See here
Hahaha ... very good choices.
I saw them 1st tour at Wollman Skating Rink in NY City ..$5 general admission.
I am very aware of the Yardsbirds, I play the original “Train Kept a-Rolling” and “The Shapes of Things to Come” on my guitar all the time. Probably one of the MOST underated bands of the late 60’s. Has there ever been a group that pumped out that many world-class gutarists?
Now if the Who/Beatles try something it would be interesting...
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present - “The Whotles!”
It just might work!
;-)
Wow. That must have been something. What was it like?
