I dont shoot deer because personally I dont believe in it. Not for some PETA reason but because I dont eat deer, so I dont believe in wasting it. So the question that needs to be asked of you is, was he going to eat the sea lion or was he acting in a fit of rage?
Actually, the main reason deer are shot aren't as a source of food but as a means of checking their population growth to keep them from destroying the environment, and of course to minimize the hazard they present to motorists here in the Northeast.
How this fellow killed this sea lion is not something to be encouraged, but he doesn't deserve to die in prison either.
And judging by some of the posts on this thread it does look like a program is going to have to be developed to start culling the sea lion heard.
It's a shame though, that they had to put it down.
Mark
They are not called ‘sea kitties’ for a reason.
A steak knife seems less effective than their own work fighting each other.
Right. If no one is around you SHOOT the critter!!
Having watched several gorgeous Salmon get shredded right at the boat by seals, I understand this guy completely.
Another friend had $20,000+ damage done to his boat, docked in the SF Marina, by a bull seal that decided to make it HIS home. All he could do was watch.
I've no empathy at all for these 'cute' WILD creatures.
I didnt realize he was going to get life in prison for being a heartless schmuck.
So doing what only comes naturally to a wild animal is means for executing it, you must be a redneck.
So doing what only comes naturally to a wild animal is means for executing it....
At that point, we're both part of the food chain.
I'd win...
Thank God they did the humne thing for the animal.
Can't imagine what this guy would do if someone crossed his line.
Have fun!
What the sea lion lovers don’t realize is that there are so many of them now that they will draw great whites into areas where they have never before been a problem.
Yeah shank him. But I know his sentence by a judge wont be death.
Well, I see that you have now taken to "thread hopping" (actually going into a thread I was never even on) to push your leftist pro-death agenda.
Are you a member of PETA? I am simply curious why you believe that an animal has a human soul.
I never indicated the animal had a human soul, where did that come from? I said it was the humane thing to do, to euthanize the animal after it’s fatal wounding. Quite a bit different.
And wha’s with the PETA thing? I’m really curious how you could even make any connection like that.
FYI, people ping each other to topics of mutual interest all the time, i’ve done nothing wrong. Just though you may find interest in this thread. If I’m wrong, so be it, but seeing as how you have engaged, it looks as though I am correct.
If people are to catch grief for pinging another poster to a thread they’ve never been on, FR would virtually shut down. Are you trying to incorrectly claim I have done something wrong?
This WAS NOT pinging someone to a thread you thought might interest me. This was pushing a pro-euthanasia agenda on a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with the matter and your snide comment (Thank God they did the humne thing for the animal.) reflects this.
Feel free to disagree with me, and mischaracterize what I have said in the past, but we both know that mischaracerization is simply intellectual dishonesty. I am not pro-death.
Actually, government agents will be shooting some of them as soon as they can process the paperwork (about two years was the estimate given).
The government goon will be shooting all those you and Hai Nguyen miss.
Xactly!
