FOLKS You’ve been Punk’d ... I read the wikipedia entry on it, and folks, what you have right there is another JOE WILSON/ VALERIE PLAME type diversionary/phony allegation. You can smell it a mile away. Since we’ve been through “October surprise”, who-shot-JFK, and other fairy tales, the plotline should be familiar, I just didn’t realize it came up even in the 1930s.
The setup for this is that a bunch of WW1 veterans in 1932 came to DC to protest and demand their ‘bonus’. The men they called in to make sure the protesters didnt get out of hand was this general and a general called Douglas MacAurther.’

1) The accuser claims he’s part of the gang but the rest of the gang denies it:

... so for a bunch of businessmen to recuit him is like Freepers asking the leader of Code Pink to organize a freep. It makes no sense, they all deny it and there was no evidence except this not-disinterested man’s say-so.

For BBC to ‘sex up’ the charges and bring in Prescott bush is farcical. Nobody in the 1933 or 1934 hearing mentioned Bush, so it seems the conspiracy kooks are just piling on one fable on top of another.
Last point:
The irony is that Roosevelt’s economic policies were as close to fascism as anything anyone in America was contemplating.
- Roosevelt tried nationalizing the economy with the NRA.
The Supreme Court thankfully decided that our Constitution didn’t contemplate nationalist economic controls and stopped it
- In 1937 Roosevelt tried packing the supreme court so he could get around the constitutional challenge to his policies. He fortunately failed, but there was enough turnover in the supreme court that he eventually got a majority to affirm new deal legislation (vestiges of the bad stuff like stupid farm price supports we live under today)
