Dwayne? Does that qualify as a Wayne name?

"I had to kill the Cracker."

Definitely a hate crime -- let's see how the media and courts handle this.

I'd be happy to win 10 grand, but I wouldn't spend every waking hour bragging about it.

I was remodeling my bathroom last week and found an old rusty bandaid can held to a beam underneath the floor with a piece of wire. When I opened the can, I found one thousand dollars all neatly rolled together. It was marked 1966, so it had been there for at least 41 years. The couple who owned the house at that time are both deceased, and this was obviously hid away for an emergency and forgotten about.

I joked to my Wife that at least this made the remodeling worthwhile :)

If you ever win the lottery, don’t tell anybody. *** And that includes your relatives. :)

Some of them yes I would not tell, I have pair of brother in laws who can't pay attention regulary much less their bills. But seriously if I hit it big, I would resign saying I recieved a better offer, do the 2 weeks, and leave with no one the wiser.

Usually people that do have money do not brag about it.

Great find! I’m in the process of remodeling my kitchen in a 1976 house and the bell bottom wearing, perm haired, disco listening builders haven’t left me squat.

I have a strict policy I always follow: my finances are no one else's business. If I have money, I don't boast about it and I live a modest life. The less attention I attract, the better it is for my well-being.

A couple of lessons already spoken of here about a revolving door justice system, hate crime, and being overly ostentatious about good fortune have already been said, but I am reminded of an old counter adage to the concept of wealth redistribution.
"If you took all the money away from the wealthy, and gave it to the impoverished in one night, it would all be back in the hands of the wealthy by the next day."
Point is, success, built on frugality and hard work is how most of the wealthy remain that way. Those who fall into a lot of money in a short time oftentimes fail to fully capitalize on the good fortune, they have not the maturity. Recent history is littered with lottery "casualties" and celebrities constantly going in and out of rehab for recreational drug use. All the while, the oil magnate is viewed with disdain and the music/television/movie star limousine socialist is lauded.

hey! michiganders aren’t yankees, we’re midwesterners. :)

I don't know about that; I tend to be suspicious of any "midwesterners" that live in the Eastern time zone.

Was it all or mostly 20s? I think that's mine. I remember leaving it with that couple for safe-keeping.

After taxes $10,000 isn’t all that much in today’s economy, I would say. Not like winning Powerball.

Having said that though, can you imagine the national news that would be generated if things were reversed here? If some bigot white guy killed an immigrant or a member of a minority group over lottery winnings then Nancy Grace, Greta, and countless other shows would be making it their focus. Sharpton and his ilk would be all over TV screaming about our evil society, etc.

Not that that would be a bad thing. Imagine RFK Jr. with all his rants of “corporate cronyism” actually living without the benefits of it. Then again, we’d be reading about stories of how Paris Hilton is trying to make it work.

The “Cracker” was asking for it. What an idiot to brag on the 10k in a crew with ex-cons.
