In 1954 Daytona had the only "hill" in this part of Florida, probably still does, LOL! Hey, I won a Burgess vibrating spray gun! All body panels formed from Masonite, soaked under the lawn sprinkler, and blended with Durhams Rock Hard Water Putty. The exhaust system came from a piece of bamboo I found on the beach. This baby was royal blue and cream, my first car.

They didn’t level your “hill” to build a race track by chance? Daytona Beach Pepsi 400 next weekend. :-)
Salute from one baby boomer to another baby boomer.

“So come on...howd you do”?
Won a paint sprayer and got my pic in the paper, who could ask for anything more? The photographer kept telling me to smile, but that would have blasted the image I wanted to project, I was there to kick butt, LOL!
I remember just wishing that hill would go on forever, just another few feet, and I would pass them all.

Back in 54 I’d read about the Soap Box Derbies in ‘Boy’s Life’ magazine and dream. Closest we ever got was 2x4s, fruit crates and baby buggy wheels....and yeah....if that hill was a little longer, I couldda been champ of the neighborhood. };^)

Powered by FPL? I'll bet it stalled every 10 feet if we use a relative scale from the daily flicker and flash we get here. :)
Sharp looking car and you have that same serious look as the young Wallace kid in those commercials we see these days. Pretty cool.

I interviewed a guy for a job who was national pinewood derby champ in the mid ‘80’s.
