ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Five New Yorkers who reportedly spat on and swore at Walt Disney World patrons were arrested after they allegedly punched a sheriff's deputy in the face, officials said.
The suspects, all from Shirley, N.Y., ranged in age from 20 to 14 years old. Disney security told authorities they may have been intoxicated.

Walt Disney must be spinning in his cryogenic chamber...
You boy’s ain’t from around here - are ya?
“Five New Yorkers who reportedly spat on and swore”
Of course they did. They’re New Yorkers.
Time to ban New Yorkers from WDW.
Spring (law)Break?
I hate Disney World. That was the worst experience of my life.
We’ve been going to Disney for the last 10 years. There is a noticable depreciation in the quality. It’s not what it use to be.
I’m glad they are from NY, and not The South................
I totally agree. Then my wife will stop bugging me to go there again with the kids....
We learned long ago that if you are visiting Disney World from upstate NY, that you never just say I am a New Yorker..........as it is assumed that you mean the city and you WILL get the cold shoulder.
What a goffy story
I've been there 5 times since they opened, and loved it every time. Why was your experience difficult?.........
The hoi polloi.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA!
OH, I needed that one!
They were all from New York, and don't call me Shirley.
Me too, it’s a great place. Only other place that comes close is the Las Vegas Strip. The two ultimate locations, as far as I’m concerned.
“I hate Disney World....”
Ha! Your statement reminds me of my brother who wanted to run for governor of Tennessee on the platform of leveling Opryland. He loved the Opry and thus hated the “theme park”.
...Or as others say...”The real ADVENTURE LAND is still in the wilds of this country’s national parks and national forests.
And someone... please let me know when this brawl shows up on youtube.com. I’ll bring the popcorn...
Obviously, Yankees and Jets fans. Those people are all animals.
Not like Red Sox and Patriot fans. We are all well behaved and classy!
Surprising, we were there in Feb and had a great time, the day was really fun (for the kids too).
Lines
Lines
Lines
We are able to get two FastPasses each day before they ran out. We waited 3 hours for one ride. We waited 45 minutes to catch a bus at the motel.
The shortest line was Space Mountain and that’s because we opened the park. After that, the lines were a half-hour or more. Most of them were over an hour. We went from one line to another. The kids were beat by 4PM. Big mistake.
Sea World was a lot better.
Intoxicated and smart aleck punks.
Back in my hard partying days, my friends and I got thrown out of The Adventure Club on Pleasure Island when my friend faked a heart attack in the middle of the bar. As I was getting tossed, I trapped a bouncer in the revolving door with my foot. In the process of releasing him, I spun through the door, back into the bar and locked him out, again with my shoe. That was a very very angry bouncer getting laughed at.
Alcohol was involved.
I had to laugh at this. A crowded amusement park is the last place I'd want to be too.
You have to go off season. We went the first week of May (Post spring break-pre-college kids) and had a blast. We went on Splash mountain 5 times in a row with maybe a two minute wait in between rides. My kid is 5 so I can still pull him from school.
Yeah, but because of the stoopid Patriots week school break, there's one week a year when WDW is Bay State South. Keeps the Red Sox fans from annoying the other customers.
Ok. I’d stand in line 45 minutes to watch that.
We went to Key West in our day. It was much more fun. Especially when my buddy walked into a gay bar wearing a tank top that said “Support women’s lib. Make him sleep in the wet spot” (he bought it for a coworker). You would have thought Santa just dropped his preppy ass down the chimney at that place. He couldn’t pay for a drink. He was too hammered to know what was happening. One of the other guys pretended to be his lover so we could leave. “That hot babe was buying me drinks.” “Uhhh...that wasn’t a woman”
I used to live near Shirley, went to school with a few of them. Rough crowd, most seem to be “City” transplants. They gave us country kids a really hard time.
We couldn’t pull the kids. If they miss too much school, they have to repeat the grade.
We were actually in Disney World for our sorta annual golf trip. Twenty or so old fraternity buddies on a four day bender. I don't remember who chose Disney, but we didn't fit in well down there.
We blend in a lot better at Myrtle Beach.

Of course you have lines.
But DisneyWorld (unless it’s possibly changed in the last 15 years) moves them FAST.
Try spending time at the slightly less-famous and more seedy ride parks and see how many feet per minute you move. I guarantee, having experienced Disney vs. HersheyPark and King’s Dominion and Busch Gardens, it’s a snail’s pace comparatively for the latter.
Golf at Myrtle Beach. If you aren’t dying from a heat stroke, you are dodging lightning strikes.
We were playing at a course there and my buddy whipped one into Caddilac sitting in parking lot. I followed it with a hook into a glass storm door. I took the penalty on that one. Cadillac Boy actually played his ball but I was sweating it because the Caddy was pimped out. I just knew that Huggy Bear was going to come out and cap us all. He later placed one next to a gator . He swore he could whoop a gator because he had been in the Army (he carried a clipboard instead of a gun). We threatened to ban him from the cooler and he took a stroke.
I would like to see Orlando again but not the park.
They have riots at Busch Gardens now. Pass. Dollywood was OK. But if you die and go to Hell, it’s a lot like Gatlinburg.
AHHHH! I think I see why you had a bad time....
After the FIRST time I went as a teen, shortly after they opened in the early 70’s, I could see a visit to WDW as a battle to be planned in advance.
First, get up early, eat a BIG BREAKFAST at Denney’s, IHOP, etc, so you won’t need to eat again for a long time, as the foods in WDW are outrageously priced, and if you are eating, you are not riding.
Get a map of WDW in advance, and place a “priority” on the itinerary of things to do and/or see. If one is too long a wait, then go to the next one on the list. Make sure your list doesn’t get too complicated, like ride 1 on east side of park and ride 2 on west side. Try to stay linear. HINT: If the skyride is working(?) you can by pass a whole lot of real estate and people going from one place to another.
STICK TO IT!
If you plan your “attack” and have Plan “B” and “C” in reserve, then you will have an enjoyable time.
Aimlessly wandering around is not fun for anybody, especially children.
STAY HYDRATED! Even though the drinks are expensive, buy BOTTLED WATER, DRINK IT ALL and dispose of the bottle. DO NOT CARRY IT AROUND WITH YOU.
Where have you been staying and what time of year? Certain times of the year attract ‘certain types’ of guests. These spitters were a bunch of punks from NYC. They were invited to leave, via handcuffs.
That’s a good plan if you are by yourself. With a wife and kids, logic flies out the window. I tried to get them to go with their aunt but they insisted that I go. They now realize what a big mistake that was.
Uh-oh. We plan to go there in late June. What’s the story?
As for Disney World, we were there last year in March. We stayed on-premises, at a hotel on the monorail, but after the first night ate dinners in Orlando. We had a very good time, but the five-day/four-night stay was *very* expensive.
Just go with the flow, man.........
Different strokes for different folks. You’d have to put a gun to my head to get me to “The Magic Kingdom” again. When I go to Florida, I head for the beach, and avoid the anus of the state (Orlando/Kissimmee) as much as possible.
In my part of the Island, the same was true for Elmont and Valley Stream, although they have "diversified" since then.
They were actually from a rather low-rent suburb of NYC, but your point still stands.
Or alligators. I went every year for a week between 1989 and 1997. The congestion finally got to me. There are simply too many other golf courses that are nicer and less crowded, and where the food is better, and the weather (at least in the Summer) isn’t stultifying.
Grandfather Mountain NC is a nice course. Mountain courses are really catching fire because the weather is so nice. There is a Pete Dye course in Radford Va that is pretty good.
We are going to Williamsburg this week and they have some nice courses. Weather is a bit milder this time of year.
“We are going to Williamsburg this week.”
Were the riots you referred to at the Williamsburg Busch Gardens? That’s the one we are planning to visit.
Someone just corrected me. It’s Kings Dominion that had the problems.
