We love Bela. My son has performed at this festival but not this year.
I gave it a moment’s thought until I saw the price “$145”.
I went a few years ago as a local band’s guest.
Wow! Great lineup.
I’m definitely a different generation. Not one band on there I really care to hear that I do know the names and most of the names, I don’t have a clue who they are anyway.
(I’m 70’s and 80’s classic rock and southern rock fan)
What? No Rosie Flores!?
Victor Wooten is always hootin
You might like Patterson Hood’s band Drive-by Truckers. I wish they were playing, but I’ll take just Patterson. Other than that, not a lot in that genre though oddly. You would think Austin would have more like that.
I’ve never heard of any of ‘em.
Is Austin still in Texas?
I'm withya.
By the time I moved here to Austin, musicianship was a thing of the past. 99% of local Austin bands are basically garage bands compared to the glory days of RockNRoll in the 70s.
They would have to pay me to see this lineup.
Now now, I think most people have heard of Bob Dylan. That is who I am most excited to see. But even outside of him some very good bands but lesser known. If The White Stripes new CD is as good as the single, it will be flat out incredible.
Have you heard the Asylum Street Spankers?
No I havent
Not one band on there I really care to hear that I do know the names and most of the names, I dont have a clue who they are anyway.
Wilco is a great band in the Americana/alt.country style
Wilco is pretty good. I like Son Volt a little better. Nice to see Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar both making good music even without each other.
Where is Robert Earle Keen?
In the twelfth line, first full name.
I can’t see very well within condensed text.
Hot dog! Great line-up...
1)Bob Dylan
2)Bela Fleck & the Flecktones
3)Lucinda Williams
4)Marty Robbins
5)Bob Wills
I’m in.
I know this is Texas where Bob Wills is still the king, but he has been dead for over 30 years, I don’t know that he will be playing. He may be a little odorific on stage.

BOB WILLS / SITTIN’ ON TOP OF THE WORLD
That is interesting. I wonder if they will do that at a festival.
With any luck We’ll get to hear Bob do this one...

If you are Bob Dylan how do you come up with a playlist? So many great songs to choose from, I don’t think I could do it. At least not without about a 4 hour concert. The good thing about him is that his new stuff is great too, so when he is playing that you aren’t thinking, “when is he going to get to his hits?”
Well dang, that’s the fun of it...
we don’t get to know when...
we just get to listen... ;o)
Seriesly, I'd LOVE to see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. They're playing in KC, but I can't make the show... Darn bad timing! I even had tickets to see "Spamalot" next week, but something came up so I can't go!

Waiting on the world to change
Did you get to see Dylan?
I thought he was outstanding after his voice warmed up.
And of course you ended up not missing Amy or the Stripes since they both canceled. I was incredibly bummed about that, but it freed me up to go see Arcade Fire who were incredible.
YES!
I charmed my way up to the front next to the 2:00 people, and absolutely thoroughly enjoyed myself. Dylan could have just played "Tangled Up In Blue" and "Things Have Changed" and I would have called it perfection, but the fact that he threw in "Like A Rolling Stone" and ended with "I Shall Be Released" put me over the top.
I would have liked to have heard "Someday Baby", but I regret even mentioning it. However, I would have liked to kill the cameraman who obviously died without my assistance right after he set up the tripod for the opening shot. I was super close, close enough to see Dylan's face, but the film maker in me was DYING.
I LOVE BOB!
(Sidenote: I'd heard that he hadn't played "Everybody Must Get Stoned" in over a decade... the fact that he opened up with it was PURE AUSTIN! LOL!)
Hysterical, in a sad way, about Winehouse. I had called it weeks earlier. However, I do need to see her before she kills herself.

I'm seeing Sinead on the 28th of next month, and beyond looking forward to it. Damn, I love this town.
= )
I thought the Leevees Gonna Break/Tangled Up in Blue combo was the best part.
I agree on the Someday Baby call.
Who else did you see?
And I love Austin too. Traffic is a little crazy compared to here, but the music scene is borderline too good for words.
Stillwater, OK, I go to OSU.
That’s awesome that you still managed to get a good spot. We camped out all day at the main stage just to be safe. It helped that I wanted to see most of those bands, but I would have liked to catch some other bands. Still I wasn’t going to sacrifice my spot for Bob, I will have a much better chance of seeing the others somewhere else.
It took a lot of charm, but I managed to be about 25 people back, depth-wise, from the stage. (A couple of guys next to me were HATING me... they had been there since 2. One finally lightened up but the other, convinced I was "so L.A." never gave me so much as a smile. *shrug*) The row ahead of me were folks from 11 a.m., so I decided to be happy with where I ended up.
OSU, eh? 'Least it's not OU. (Hook 'em! LOL!)
Enjoy your time up there. Come back here often.
