Find a partner or grab your favorite beverage & listen to some Irish tunes .A couple of wave files - full-length, lilting, Irish melodies - they are so beautiful! I hope you can open them, or "save target as" to your hard drive and listen to them later.
"My Wild Irish Rose" ~ John Gary "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" ~ John Gary
MIDIS
"Irish Lullabye" "The Last Rose of Summer" "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" "Danny Boy"
Why Saint Patrick's Day?
Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
So, why is it celebrated on March 17th? One theory is that that is the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is believed that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of course, in Ireland. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost all businesses close on March 17th. Being a religious holiday as well, many Irish attend mass, where March 17th is the traditional day for offering prayers for missionaries worldwide before the serious celebrating begins.
In American cities with a large Irish population, St. Patrick's Day is a very big deal. Big cities and small towns alike celebrate with parades, "wearing of the green," music and songs, Irish food and drink, and activities for kids such as crafts, coloring and games. Some communities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green!

Moondance or Brown Eyed Girl would be great.
To: DollyCali
Yay, an Irish theme. I'm glad it's going to be cold this weekend, so I can wear my green shirt. (Long sleeves wouldn't do well in warm weather).
I don't know anyone who doesn't like a good Irish, Scottish or Celtic song. I propose a topic of favorite Celtic/Irish/Scottish songs and/or artists.
Hands down, my favorite is Celtic Woman. Their music is awesome, and made me
gush like a fan girl about their music on Amazon.

Thanks, Dolly. I have been working in Japan for almost 5 years with the DoD. (I'm a civilian). Right now, in DC to visit the wall. Had a business trip here this week and delayed my departure one day so I could be part of the Gathering of Eagles.

The new SHORT, Laura Bush haircut. My first time ever with short hair. I am pinging all here who wanted to see the pix(and a few others who might not have heard about the change wednesday ).. as I hate to spam several threads w/same pix.
I am also hosting the Finest this weekend but know the overabundance of my pix are not by in large appreciated.
My friend John took these today while we walked dogs. He is one of the biggest "NEVER, EVER cut your hair cheerleaders....we all know a lot of those men, don't we gals????
I hadn't told him & his first words were.. WOW.. it looks terrific..
For the few that missed the story. I was ready for a change. I went to beauty shop & asked for a Laura Bush haircut. The stylist did NOT know who Laura Bush was.. sigh.. It is really short.. about 15 inches off. & thinned out a bit. I am blessed with very thick hair & it has a ton of natural curl
Things to note:
-I am out in Ohio NOT IN MY VAN ON THE WAY TO DC
-We have SNOW (again & forever, it seems)
-I AM wearing Red(to support the troops on Friday)
-I am trying to NOT be too disappointed that something I had looked forward to for weeks fell thru at last minute.

yes true re: God making it pretty firm, where the decision was. Did you read about my dream the night before? well, more of a nightmare. I posted it on same thread to ohioWfan..
. The color was done this morning. I forgot about it with the distractions from mechanics calls & my subsequent "scramble" calls.. It was to be on 35 min & it was on about hour and half. It is probably close to my natural color(which I haven't seen in decades)
