I've seen no study that finds ketogenic diets are harmful to normal people.
No study because it's common knowledge that they can be harmful (ask a diabetic in ketoacidosis).
But you eat whatever you want to darlin'.
But they aren't 'long term' successful. Folks go off and on them, but most go off and stay off.
They're the most common of the "I tried it diets". Though I respect SB just a tiny bit more.
Common knowledge isn't good enough. It used to be common knowledge that antibiotics wouldn't help ulcers.
Ok,
I can site research, but I really don't want to today.
I'm pretty sure there is nothing I can say or do that will change your mind. So I'm not going to try.
Why bother?
(Yes, this I've learned after many years here.)
To each his own I guess....but....there has been no other diet that we could live with and still maintain our health.
I've been following the guidelines for the New American Plate put out by the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) for almost a year now and have lost a lot of weight. The doctor tells me my cholesterol and lipids are "beautiful." I enjoy eating more than I ever have because I'm getting wonderful fresh, non-processed food in whatever quantity I want.
Lol.
Hey, I'd love more input on threads like these from people with your background. :-)
I love the AICR! And yeah, it's the way I try to eat myself (when I stay away from the lemonade machine).
As for posting on these threads more,
LOL! Yeah, maybe.
“While I do agree that EVERYTHING has a money trail, I cannot except the fact that something that passes across hundreds of peoples desks and dozens of boards and commitees can be accepted and presented to the entire population while knowingly being something that would be harmfull.”
Old thread... but...
What a ridiculous comment.
The government does idiotic things all the time that meet your criteria.
EPA, FDA, Dept of Education, you name it.
Your argument is a logical fallacy - appeal to authority.
“No study because it’s common knowledge that they can be harmful (ask a diabetic in ketoacidosis)”
Dietary ketosis and ketoacidosis are totally different metabolically. Totally different pathways.

“””The government does idiotic things all the time that meet your criteria....””””
Like what?
Thanks for reminding me of why I don’t come here anymore ;)
