Splitter Not Mandatory Teams will not need to replace the front splitter if it is broken off during a "car of tomorrow" race, NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby said Thursday. Darby said he expect teams will want to have a front splitter - a shelf that sits underneath the front valence to adjust front downforce - on the car, but it won't be a requirement. So just as in the past, a car with a sawed off front end following a crash could be on the track.
...More Speaking of splitters and ONE reason someone needs to get DEI on track.....
Jr.."We actually, I was scared to death at the test knowing that the Car of Tomorrow (CoT) wasn't going so good for us. I bought a pull-down plate for my Busch team and DEI doesn't have one so they've been over there using the pull-down plate and learning a lot of things. We went back and tested the other day and it was really, really good. So that whole deal has improved 60-70 % as far as my outlook on the CoT so I'm feeling a lot better about this year."

Congress honors memory of former NASCAR champion Benny Parsons
By The Charlotte Observer
N.C. congressman Robin Hayes announced that the House passed legislation to honor NASCAR legend Benny Parsons.
Hayes introduced the legislation Jan. 17 and spoke on the House Floor to honor Parsons for his excellence in racing and his great character.
Parsons was born in Wilkes County on July 12, 1941. He won 21 races, including the 1975 Daytona 500, and was the first NASCAR driver to qualify at more than 200 mph. Parsons died Jan. 16 from complications from lung cancer.

Rained 1 1/2 Wed and 3/4 yesterday. Eureka was the only dry spot in Cal today. It was weird to look at the weather map...

Pretty good testing (Happy Hour) speeds for Jr.
Smoke didn't whine about the speeds being too fast, so that's good.
Biffle didn't hit a wall and knock himself out again, that's good too!
Tomorrow night!

The supermarket rag "Globe" has recycled and repackaged some recent news into the following "hook up" between Junior and Kelly Clarkson. They also say Junior has been "linked" to Ricky Kendrick's former fiance (and mom of their daughter) Emily Maynard. Of course, Globe is about as reliable as...well, you know.

Jimmie is so good-looking, and the fella standing next to him ain't bad either, for a 60-yr-old.
