Hi fellow Freepers. A bit of news...just heard a lengthy interview on Hannity with JD Hayworth in which he stated ("in the immortal words of Yogi Berra...") his race ain't over. If I heard correctly, at least 100,000 votes remain to be counted; AP apparently jumped the gun with their projection. JD's opponent has not claimed victory nor has JD conceded. He said it may take a good week for all the "legal votes" to be counted.
If this was posted elsewhere, I apologize...did a search and didn't see anything. Anyway, we could use a bit of optimism around this joint about now. Please keep fingers crossed and all good thoughts for JD, a really good guy. IMO, one of the best!
Good news, thanks for posting...
JD for Pres 2008!
Nice of the AP to decide our elections. *ssholes!
Keep the heat on, J.D. Don't let them steal it.
Were you the "Freeper Friend" that tipped Sean off on the Hayworth race?
bttt
Glad to hear since this one race I was sad to see us lose.
How many races undecided?
I received an email notice from AZ Republicans yesterday asking for help in counting the ballots, but we weren't able to make it to their "training" session for counting ballots by hand so cannot. Would have loved to help with that though and hopefully we'll keep J.D. Hayworth as our Rep.
He is very upbeat and encouraged that he will be OK!
g
Fingers crossed.
I wish JD Hayworth luck

D. Hayworth, who ended up on the short end of the vote count on election night, refused to concede defeat in his re-election bid for Arizonas 5th Congressional District on Wednesday.
Hayworth declined interview requests with the Tribune, but in television and radio interviews the six-term Republican said he planned to wait out the final count.
Election officials said more than 250,000 [??] ballots cast in Maricopa County have yet to be counted. They were unable to immediately determine how many of those ballots were from the 5th district, which includes Scottsdale, Tempe, Ahwatukee Foothills, Fountain Hills and surrounding areas.
Unofficial results late Wednesday had Democratic challenger Harry Mitchell ahead with 50.5 percent, followed by Hayworth with 46.2 percent and Libertarian Warren Severin with 3.3 percent.
Mitchell led by 5,955 votes among 140,819 votes counted so far.
Hayworth has no reason to believe anything is askew with the election results to date, said spokesman Brian Hummell.
Hes just waiting to find out and wants to make sure that every vote that was legally cast was counted properly, Hummell said.
Mitchell said Wednesday he has been accepting congratulatory phone calls, but has been reminding his wellwishers that hes also waiting out the final vote count.
Things are going very well, but theres a lot of absentee ballots out there and a lot of provisional ballots, he said.
Im glad Im in the position Im in and I think were moving in the right direction, so I feel good about that, but Im not going to claim victory, no, said Mitchell, who has held public office nearly continuously since 1970.
-snip-
Hey, Geeze. I love your guy! Wish he were mine...I'm pulling for him. I did hear him mention that the ballots were "under lock and key" and 24-hour guard.
any word on Heather Wilson?
Thanks for that. Note that less than 6,000 votes separate them. Back to biting my fingernails...
Nothing concrete but the numbers of ballots outstanding make it very difficult for Madrid to pull it off.
I would like to know how many uncounted ballots are sitting around in all the states. A lot of Republicans voted that way for convenience. J.D. Hayworth is one of those guys that could get Pelosi worked up. Of Gingrich quality.
I know of three absentee ballot votes for J.D. I hand carried our ballots in on Tuesday to our polling place. There was a
bin full of early ballots. It seems I'm not the only one not trusting the mails.
Thanks for posting.
Go Hayworth!
;)
Yes, J.D. mentioned that many of the voters in his district (whom he called "saavy" and "smart") refused to mail their early ballots as they were worried about postmark problems; therefore, a huge amount of them were walked into the polls on election day. This is a big reason why so many ballots still remain uncounted.
Aha! ;-)
Is it possible 250,000 votes are outstanding?
Maybe it's a mistake for 25,000.
Just wait til January 19, 2038.
Wrong thread... sorry.
*Big Freeper Grin*
The Arizona Secretary of State's office yesterday stated that Hayworth was wrong about the 100,000 votes. There are 230,500 ballots that have not been counted in Maricopa County. Many people brought their competed "mail-in" ballots to the polls on Tuesday and these ballots were just tossed aside and ignored. They are being counted now. 230,500!!!!! That's a lot of ballots. Talk about "disenfranchised" and "making every vote count."
I hope so, I'd HATE to see us lose him.
The media keeps neglecting the fact that Mitchell ran his race as a J.D. clone. Do we have Blue Dog Democrats here in AZ?
Makes you wonder how many other places this has happened.
Thanks so much for passing along that info. Very encouraging.
Yes. I also wonder how many votes got counted properly. I always thought absentee ballots got counted last, except in Fl, or was it Ohio...
Then found the AZ thread yesterday, and got really excited and messaged my "Friend", who had no clue that was going on, and got excited too!
I am praying for JD!! He may live in AZ (NO offense to AZ)but he is a good ole NC boy!
Exactly.
You heard correct...250,000. Supposedly, the stack of uncounted boxes of ballots was 6Ft high by 100Ft long. They showed some of it on local news last night. I thought we were in the 21st century.

GOOD NEWS....thank god!
This could also change the numbers on the marriage amendment that was defeated.
How close were the numbers on that, anyone?
I like JD and hopes he can pull it out.
J.D. used to be the congressman in my district. I voted for him each and every time. Then they decided to gerrymander the districts in Arizona to make the place where I live, which is heavily Democratic, into a Democratic district. Rick Renzi (R) has been elected twice now in my district since their goofy gerrymandering took place. LOL! The DNC sent some liberal 'RAT from Cleveland who is also a former president of the aCLU, to run against Renzi this time. It didn't work out.
There were 137,000 votes tallied so far, Heyworth is saying that 40% of all votes cast haven't been counted yet? I think ol' J.D. is in denial.
..one of my favorites--and a real Reagan Republican--go down fighting or until victory is yours JD...
Me too! I have always loved JD!
Not quite...unless I heard wrong, he confirmed to Sean that only 45% of all ballots cast had actually been counted. I know, it sounds unbelievable, but read the other comments on this thread from the Arizonans.
We'll see but I wouldn't count on it. 230,550 is a lot of ballots.
Can't stand that douche... Harry (faux Hayworth clone) Mitchell.
They were about 6000 votes apart yesterday and there is a whole lot of Absentee votes in AZ.
