8/7 - The Christmas Invasion: Rose returns to London on Christmas Eve with the Doctor, who is weakened from his regeneration. The holiday season is shattered by the arrival of the alien Sycorax. Will the Doctor awaken in time to help Prime Minister Harriet Jones fend off the alien threat?
9:30/8:30 - New Earth: Rose embarks on her first adventure with the newly regenerated Doctor. But when they visit New Earth far in the future, they find gruesome secrets hidden inside a luxury hospital — and an enemy thought long since dead is out for revenge.
New Doctor Who! (Actually, I've already seen season two. But, I'm looking forward to "The Runaway Bride" come Christmas)

Just thought you might like to know that Dr Who is filmed near where I live - Cardiff and around! It provides the backdrop! We are nearly famous!! I'm old enough to remember the very first episode!

In the fourth episode (School Reunion) of the second series, we will get the return of Sarah Jane Smith and K-9!
Sarah Jane was a companion to both the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) and the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker).
She did a very good job at screaming at the sight of an alien menace, which is the primary job of a Doctor Who companion...
Earlier season shows of Dr. Who are running on the Sci Fi Channel now until 4:00 PM ET.
In the Christmas Invasion, David Tennant spends most of his sleeping. When the sleeping beauty finally wakes, he takes control of the small screen like Tom Baker did. His "Who am I?" speech is priceless. Grade B.
New Earth has great special effects for a Doctor Who episode. But despite that, the story has plot holes big enough for a Cybermen Army to march thru. Grade B-.
After watching both seasons of the New DW series, I'd say the best of the classic beats the best of the new series.
Sure, the new series has strong characterization, witty dialouge, and emotional dramatic scences. My problem with the new series is that the episodes feel "rushed". Russell T Davies is cramming everything into a 45 minute time slot. As a result, there are a lot of plot holes and too quick solutions in the episodes.

Great ratings for both episodes; though I have to say that when Tennant's Who gets angry (as he does in the latter portion of "Christmas Invasion"), he is as intense as any of the Whos, and some might say a far sight better.
Each Doctor is good in their own way. I liked the Ninth Doctor from last season, and it would have been interesting to see another season with Christopher Eccleston.
I've got to say that the Tenth Doctor is one of my all-time favorites. His relationship with Rose Tyler gets a little too close for my liking. I'm not used to seeing the Doctor in a romantic situation. He's an alien, and doesn't usually get too close to his companions in that way. They don't become physical, but the tension is definitely there.
If you're not familiar with the classic series, the actor playing the Doctor changes every few years. They've done it nine times since 1963.
