Ugh. That guy is the embodiment of being unable to let go.

I'm grateful that I'm not a Raiders fan. That whole scene looks very bleak from an outside perspective. Ultimately, it's an ownership problem - a man who keeps trying to build a team capable of winning the 1976 Super Bowl - and it won't be fixed until a new regime is in place.

Unfortunately the Packers don't have the stones to tell him to step aside so they can begin to rebuild.
To: mainepatsfan
And who can blame them? He still sells tickets up there in Wisconsin, team quality be damned.

Ticket sales are not the issue in GB. They'll never not sellout.
To: mainepatsfan
Must not be much to do up there.
Favre really needs to go at the end of this season... just like he needed to go at the end of last season, and the season before that. It's becoming a joke. I wonder who'll have to tell him, the coach or the team president.

Nah they just love their team. Heck there are a several teams like that.
This is the problem with the NBA...the star player has more power than the coach or the GM. The Packers are letting Brett's history with the team prevent them from moving on.
To: mainepatsfan
Maybe they should take Favre up on his statement and trade him somewhere. Send him to Oakland for a plethora of draft picks. Al Davis would go for that.

Who will inherit ownership of the Raiders after Al is gone?

I think it's too late for this year. If Favre wants to play again next year the Pack will have to move him.
To: mainepatsfan
They really should get what value they can out of him, if he doesn't wake up and quit. He's hurting the Packers at this point by not allowing Rodgers to get playing time.
IMO, he should quit playing and accept a job as a quarterback coach for the team.

I don't know - the Raiders have many part-owners. The partnership will probably elect a new managing general partner.

Uhh...I'm not sure I want Favre teaching my young QB. I'd like my QB's not to think they can throw footballs through defensive backs.
To: mainepatsfan
For all his delusions about thinking he can still play, I think he's smart enough to realize limitations in others.

Great players usually don't make very good coaches. The theory is they relied on their talent and thus have a hard time teaching players who lack it.
To: mainepatsfan
That's probably true.
Looks like Green Bay's stuck with him, then.

I'd like my QB's not to think they can throw footballs through defensive backs. Parcells has been breaking Romo of this mentality for two years. And he doesn't have Favre's or even Bledsoe's arm. Romo's strengths are accuracy and mobility; sort of a Tom Brady starter kit.

It is such a mental position especially at the NFL level. That's why some physical specimens (Couch, Leaf) just can't make it.
To: CougarGA7; mainepatsfan
Good I'm not alone in doing that then. My wife will look at me and say, "They cant hear you. Honest." No...but apparently mainepatsfan can. :)

This subjective ranking stuff is fun for discussion, but I'm so glad that the only criteria for the best teams in pro-football is objective: WINS and LOSSES.
