NEW YORK - Wearing just a small white towel and a smile, Bob prowls the dark halls of the East Side Club, looking into dozens of its closet-sized rooms and hoping eye contact with another man will lead to sex.

You have that itch, and it feels good to scratch it, said Peter, who also did not want to give his last name. There is still a place to go for it. You should see this place at 6 (p.m.) before all of the guys go home to their wives.

No... They are family-friendly places that we should bring our children to. Those gay men need to bathe too, they aren't having sex in those places.

I'm sure the wives would be thrilled to know what hubby has been up to, assuming this is true. That would be quite an assumption, much like the one that says 10% of the population is gay, or the one that "homophobes" are really self-hating gays.
Sounds to me like someone wanting to normalize his own aberrant behavior.

At least bathhouses are public and a place where you can educate people about disease prevention, said John Riley, of the New York chapter of ACT UP, an AIDS activist group. I'd guess the only "educating" this guy does, is done while his head is crammed in the corner of a filthy 6x8, his posterior in the air and not really caring who or what is behind him making him bite the pillow

Just south of San Francisco on highway 280 is a scenic vista / rest area. It has a beautiful view of the watershed area and is only accessible from the freeway. Except for me, who could ride thru on my mtn bike on my way to other places via a trail. whenever I passed thru I got the weirdest feeling from all the guys sitting in their cars ostensibly reading newspapers or eating lunch, but in actuality giving me creepy looks and hoping for a gay sex hook-up.
I asked my gay acquaintance why they don't just go to the bath houses for their dose of hairy gay butt, and he said it's because that's where the married men go for their butt piracy, so as to keep it on the down low.

The theme in this entire article is 'how much safer' bath houses are.....hello?! why did bath houses shut down in the 80s? b/c they were unsafe: AIDs and STDs -- those diseases have not gone away. They are saying that bath houses make anonymous sex safer...what a crock; the facility does not make anonymous sex safe.
The real purpose of this article is to give weight and acceptance to this kind of behavior when in reality it is nothing but an excuse for sleezing.

One of the forest preserves near where I live has been absolutely overrun by those creeps. I've learned not to back (ahem) my car into a parking spot as that is the "signal." I've come to appreciate the place being flooded by Mexicans playing loud ranchero music on the weekends . . . at least they bring the wife and kids.
And no, I will not stop going. It's one of the few places in the NW Chicago suburbs where one can chill-out out doors and (legally) have a beer.

It's EASY to be gay, cuz then you don't have to understand the opposite sex....

Customers can rent lockers or rooms, which are about 6 by 8 feet, of which a bed with a 2-inch-thick mattress takes up more than half. A small lamp dimly lights the rooms.Doesn't get much more seedy than this.....

I suppose having these bath houses is better than having these perverts take over public parks. I recently found out the park I went to day camp at as a kid has become a full blown "pickle park".
To: Welsh Rabbit
I don't think you're allowed to use full blown and pickle park in the same sentence.

Well, don't know if the story would have made the mainstream press, but such bathouses were well known in the 1950s and 1960s among the gay community. As old school bathhousese fell out of fashion with the larger community after WWII, they gradually became places for gay men to "hook up." As most bathhouses were "male only" anyway, it was a natural progression.
Of course, the park in my mother's neighborhood was a popular gay tristing area in the 1950s. Thankfully, my grandparents forbade my mother and aunt from playing there.

I worked as a bouncer at a bondage club back in college, and for a while we tried having a gay night. A fair percentage of the guys who showed up for gay night were clean-cut guys who drove late-model sedans and had a pale circle on the skin of their left ring finger. It isn't unusual for some married guys to cruise on the side.
