Groundbreaking reality make-over show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy has been cancelled after three seasons--but the stars of the show insist they are still a huge hit with celebrities. The show features five gay men who make-over unstylish straight men each week on the Bravo network, and since hitting the screen the camp stylists have been asked to revamp the homes of stars including Jennifer Lopez.
Queer Eye member Jai Rodriguez says the show won't be returning for another season, explaining, "Well, we haven't been asked back for 2007.
"It's only been three years, but it feels like so much more due to the overexposure. I started when I was 23. In that first year, I was on Oprah's couch.
"I was on Ellen (DeGeneres). People recognized me. J. Lo is a huge fan of ours. (Queer Eye member Thom Filicia) just re-did her house."
The show recently broke new ground again by making over Miles, a transgendered man.
Rodriguez adds, "Maybe this is how we are going out with a bang. Everyone (in the group) has big new projects.
"I'm working on a TV show and a movie in the fall. We just had a tour of the Philippines. We are huge there. Like Michael Jackson in 1983."

Never watched it. The show didn't get the sponsorships, huh? And the stars are such a hit in H'weird!!!! Not surprising.
To: presidio9
There is so much in this story to make fun of, I don't know where to start....
Big hit with the "celebrities" translates to "no one who actually works for a living and has their head based in the real (not "reel") world cares about our show".
And being as big as MJ in 1983 translates to "You'll see us appear in court on molestation charges in a decade or so."

I never watched the show, but TV has room for just about everything. They'll return in another guise, and that's okay. They're talented, smart, funny, and if they trigger independent, creative though in their viewers, how bad is that? Sexual inuenndoes which probably ran rampant through the show I could do without, however.

We've all seen fads come and go and it is seldom, if ever easy to note when they began to die away; but lately, it seems to me, the bloom is off the rose for the lightfoot crowd as they traipse through joy's garden.

Good! No more "making over" real men into limp-wristed metrosexuals.
I think I'll go blow away a few clay pigeons to celebrate this. Maybe crack open a cold beer and grill a nice thick steak afterwards...

How is this possible at LEAST 10% of the population is gay and another 20% is in denial of their sexual orientation. There HAS to be an audience for this.
I'm shocked!

It was a a fun show, but repetitive- the same "dressing, cooking, decorating" process every week. Like "What Not To Wear" - if it's 40 minutes past the hour, you know they've finished shopping for new clothes, and now it's time for clothes and makeup! It's time for that one to end, too.

I have never understood why straight men would take their advice. Even worse, I think many people forget that for the most part it is gay men behind womens' fashion designs. Sometimes I think that is why some clothes are so ugly. They are trying to make us look bad on purpose.
However it doesn't stop there, they are giving advice on everything now. Give us all a break!
