lets see child rape/exploitation and southern bashing all in one movie. The execs are probably expecting at least 300 million domestic box office and will sit around scratching thier heads when it doesnt do those numbers. And what the heck is her mother thinking letting her shoot semi nude violent rape scenes at 12?

Sounds like Brooke Shields' childhood revisited.

The film features Dakota semi-nude in child rape scenes. WHAT! Does this young actresses parents know about this?
If they do, they're just as sick as the people involved in the making of this movie.
Disgusting.

"a dark and violent story set in American's rural south"
Another Hollywood attempt to paint the south as inbred redneck child rapists.

Another Hollywood attempt to paint the south as inbred redneck child rapists. That was how I read it, too.
However, as a native of the Deep South, there are running jokes around here about the neighboring counties:
Q. What do you call a six-year-old virgin from Brantley County?
A. A girl who can outrun her brothers...

Yep, the Brooke Shields path to stardom. Doing nude scenes as a 12-year-old playing a prostitute.
(She was also helped along by Bob Hope's obsession with her.)

As I have said before - BAD Ju-Ju for all involved!

This stuff will get you busted on the internet. Why is it OK to do it in a movie?

Just when you think Hollywood can't get more sick, they always seem to out-do themselves.

I'll go ahead and say it. I had a nagging feeling about Dakota since I first saw her in that alien series a year or so ago. She's constantly shoved in front of cameras and her interviews make her seem much older than what she is. Something just always seemed a bit off or dark somehow. This article put the final nail into it.

Another Hollywood attempt to paint the south as inbred redneck child rapists. It isn't even an attempt at painting - it's what Hollywood firmly believes that the South and Midwest are: provincial, backward, sinister places populated by violent, narrow-minded religious zealots.
Who (even worse) lack nuance. After all, look at the President they elected. ;)

We rented "Pretty Baby" last year. I remember seeing it when it first came out, back when I was in college. Now, I found it it very disturbing, really was too close to child porn!

It's not the first time an underage girl appeared nude in a movie or filmed a rape scene. Brooke Shields did it in "Pretty Baby." Thora Birch was only 16 in "American Beuty" and Keira Knightly was 15 in "The Hole."
I agree that there's some poor parental judgement, but this is hardly ground-breaking.

child rape/exploitation and southern bashing all in one movie That's the sick part about this movie. The child rape and, once again, show the South as a region populated with degenerate white trash. (there's gotta be a smattering of gratuitous racism thrown in for good measure)
As far as the 'exploitation' of this 'actress', she's been in Hollywood long enough so that by age 12, IMHO, she's just another Hollywood whore.
The only people that will exploited by this movie are the innocent 12 year old girls outside of Hollywood that will suffer at the hands of perverts who get excited after watching this celluloid 'art'.
And it will probably occur in places like Vermont and Ohio.

I don't recall Thora Birch doing a nude scene in American Beauty. Mena Suvari did a topless scene and the nude shot used in the promotion with the strategically placed rose petals, however Suvari was over 18 at the time and playing a 16-year-old.

Birch was standing in front of a window and the nerdy boy next door was watching her as she took her bra off.

You're absolutely right.
I stand corrected.
