Just an FYI to all that are Stephen King fans...the series of Nightmares and Dreamscapes begins airing tonight on TNT 9/8 Central.
Battleground (7/12 - 9/8c): Jason Renshaw (William Hurt), a professional hit man, successfully murders the CEO of a prestigious toy company only to face the biggest fight of his life when a package from the toy company is delivered to his house with surprising, deadly contents.
Crouch End (7/12 - 9:50/8:50c): A newlywed American couple (Eion Bailey and Claire Forlani) honeymooning in London, goes to Crouch End to have dinner with a friend. They soon learn the town is not what it appears to be, and the more they get lost, the more they become trapped in another dimension.
Umney's Last Case (7/19 - 9/8c) After the death of his son, write Sam Landry (William H. Macy) is so desperate to lead another life, he writes himself into his own book, forcing his long-time character (also played by Macy) to change places with him and live in the modern day. But things get deadly when Landry realizes Umney is trapped and cannot write himself out of his new reality. Jacqueline McKenzie co-stars as Landry's distraught wife.
The End of The Whole Mess (7/19 - 10/9c) The world had changed. Violence, war and hatred have been replaced with kindness, peace and love. But at what price? Renowned filmmaker Howie Fornoy (Ron Livingston), with just one hour to live, recounts the details of his brother's (Henry Thomas) worldwide experiement gone terribly wrong.
The Road Virus Heads North (7/26 - 10/9c) Richard Kinnell (Tom Berenger) is a famous writer who, at a doctor's visit, learns he may soon have to deal with his own mortality. On the drive back to his home he buys a mysterious painting. Each time he looks at it, it changes to become more menacing and sinister. He pieces together that the painting is trying to kill him...but not if he can destroy it first.
Autopsy Room Four (8/2 - 9/8c) Businessman Howard Cottrell (Richard Thomas) is on vacation, playing one of his many games of golf. Chasing the ball into the undergrowth, he is bitten by a snake and completely paralyzed, showing no signs of life. At the hospital, unable to communicate, he is the key witness to his own autopsy.
You Know They've Got A Hell Of A Band (8/2 - 10/9c) A wrong turn on a lonely road turns frightening for Clark and Mary Willingham (Steven Weber and Kim Delaney) as they stumble upon a town not on any map - Rock and Roll Heaven, Oregon. There is a free concert every night, but the price of admission is high - once the audience enters, it can never leave.
I didn't see this posted anywhere, so I hope it's cool.
Wasn't Battleground already made into some sort of video deal? TV or otherwise?
Maybe I was partying when I read it way back when and am still confused and think I saw it "live". Great story, BTW. It was in "Nightshift" with a bunch of other short stories.
I like him too, even though there are some who say he's just a 'hack.' I want to ask you, is it your understanding that this is to be a series? Or is it a miniseries or one-timer thing?
I already had it in mind.
Reminder:
A Special Message from Stephen
In addition to being Inauguration Day, January 20th is Not One Damn Dime Day.
This is a chance for those who oppose what is happening in our name in Iraq to speak up with a
24-hour national boycott in all forms of consumer spending. Even if you are one of those who approve
of our actions in Iraq, where the American death toll continues to rise to the number of Americans
lost in the World Trade Center disaster, Not One Damn Dime Day is your chance to protest the bloated
cost of President Bushs Inauguration ceremonies, which are now estimated in the $40 million range.
I think even fiscal conservatives and die-hard Republicans would agree, this is a shameful amount
of money to spend on a party when children are dying in Indonesia. I dont intend to spend a damn
cent on January 20th, let alone a damn dime. I urge you to do the same and I urge you to pass this
message along to everyone on your email list.

Screw Stephen King! Not one damned dime for him EVER AGAIN!
I added all the episodes here and the advertisement on TNT says 4-weeks only, so I believe it's just a one-time mini-series, unfortunately.
Just a thought: Stephen King made his money on this show when the production company bought the rights for the stories. Whether anyone watches the Scifi Chanel tonight or not won't take a dime away from Stephen King.
Wow, tell us how you really feel.
Ok, maybe the guy is a nutso liberal freak, but he sure writes some cool stuff and I like it no matter what his political viewpoints are.
And, fyi, watching a tv show of something he did, isn't costing anything or spending any money on him, per say.
Every time I go to northern Maine I envision that story as I gaze at the sides of the highways.
You could agree that the expenditures for Inauguration are outlandish without agreeing to the ban for buying on that day. You have to admit, he's got a point. Not all the dollars spent on that shindig are from party fundraisers, ya know?
Oops, not Scifi, TNT.
Do you think he is appearing on the show for free?
Do think if the advertising revenues take a dive on each show he appears on, he would get less and less invitations?
Economics 101 here...
The January 20, 2005 boycott was a protest against Bush's second term. Mr. King participated in it, to hell with him.
I'm looking forward to 'Battleground' tonight. It's one of Stephen King's tightest, most well written short stories with a killer ending!
Jack.
But, he's not "appearing" on the show. It's a show made from a book he wrote. I know sometimes he makes a cameo appearance in his movies, but he usually doesn't in his made for tv stuff.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here. :P
Think something like that might be copyrighted? Think he gets income every time it's aired? Think it'll have commercials?
Yeah, so?
Forget it, have a lollipop.
How ya' been anyway?

Much better now!
Was battleground based on one of the Bachman books?
I think people put way too much emphasis on a person's political leanings. King is the master of horror. I love his early work.
I'm not sure.
I don't know but these toy soldiers are kickin ass.
You are correct, of course. It's just like learning there's no Santa, is all. Why should it be any surprise? He's just like almost all the other Hollyweird types, with a few exceptions.
I wonder if they think anyone with brains will be GOP and thus will ignore their hype, not buy tickets or go to the movies...?
