Commentator Dion Dublin mentioned on the BBC that this game was starting brightly and there were going to be goals. Right after that Ecuador scored.

Costa Rica needs to win and they attacked Brazil in 2002, so they will attack Ecuador. This will be some match!

I love it when Sweden plays Denmark all the names are the same, they are a first name followed by a last name which is a first name plus -sen.

Lars Andersen passes it to Anders Larsen

who passes it to Jens Hendriksen who then passes it to Hendrik Jensen

It is Stolen by Jans Gustavsen who feeds it to Gustav Jansen

Who dribbles by Martin Jorgensen who shoots and scores pass Jorgen Martinsen.

Oh what fun !

I think Italy is a little overrated (at least compared to the hype). I think Team USA (cue music) has a reasonable chance. Brazil is overrated as well (and Ronaldo is now out). Of course, that doesn't mean that Brazil won't annihilate the US team if the US team somehow gets to the second round.

On the other hand, the Czech Team was outstanding. So was Spain, and Ghana (compared to their rating). Croatia did decent not getting clobbered by Brazil as well.

Good times.

If any team was over-hyped and over-rated it was the dear old US of A. ESPN told us they were the "best US team ever," led by the "best goalie in the World." Uh Huh

Personally, I like it when Poland plays. There is no way you can mistake the names on Poland's team for any other team! It must be a nightmare to cover the games on TV. There are just way to many consonants! Baszczynski passes to Szymkowiak. Now Zurawski goes for the goal!

Keller isn't even the best American GK.

The Brazil match was a real let-down. Ronaldo played worse against Croatia than I would have done :0(

I was very impressed by Croatia's dribbling and skill-sets though. Shame Olic was brought in so late, and the service to him was a bit irregular.

Really hope your guys (the US team!) get to round Two. Looking forward to their game against Italy - just hope the US keep possession and don't play a defensive game.

Which raises the quesion of what was the best US WC side.

I am partial to the 1994 crowd, maybe because they are all working as commentators for espn now. Balboa, Lalas, Wynlada, Cobi, Harkes, not to mention Ramos, Wegerle, Meola, Stewart, Dooley. That was a good team.

Would it not be great if italian Roberto Rosetti officiated Ecuador's second round match. Payback for the imfamous Byron Moreno.

I can't rate the 1994 team as high as the 2002 team.

However, that 1994 team was essentially the same as the 1993 team that beat England 2-0 in Foxboro and finished Graham Taylor. Tony Meola kept stopping that Arsenal wanker Ian Wright, who couldn't score an international goal playing the USA women's side.

I really thought that Croatia outplayed Brazil for most of the match. They just couldn't finish their chances.

I don't suppose there is a live streaming audio anywhere outside of the BBC?

It must be a nightmare to cover the games on TV.

Well covering Duke Basketball games must be a nightmare too when they have to pronounce Krzyzewski.
