WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.

Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Yeah well maybe NYC needs to tax its own for security. We cannot afford any more pork to the NYC endless hole.

"NYC has received the lion's share of Homeland Security funds for the past five years. What about the rest of the nation?"

Exactly.
And of course The Slimes is always ready to pile on.

"Feds slash our funds to boost hicks in sticks",

It sure makes me want to send more money from Texas.

But New Yorkers have made it clear that they "understand" why terrorists don't like us.

There are EIGHT MILLION New Yorkers. Can you narrow that down to WHICH ones you're speaking of?

No kidding--I'm just shaking in my boots that NY voters will "punish" Republicans in '08.

This is what happens when you swear a blood oath of loyalty to one political party--you get taken for granted AND ignored.

Homeland Security money is turning into just one more big barrel of pork.

When Sheriff Barney Freaking Fife started getting his MP-5s and anti-bomb robots out in Mayberry I started to get a bad feeling.

>>>>Hmmm, I believe it was actually New York, a la Hevesi, just told Bush to drop dead

Maybe it is just now the political buzzword of the day.

The local tabloids savaged Chertoff, with an editorial cartoon in the Daily News comparing him with infamous traitor Benedict Arnold.

``Terror? What Terror?'' asked a mocking front page headline in the New York Post. ``Feds To City: Drop Dead,'' read page one of the Daily News.

Sure that would be 7,200,000 of them.

Maybe he's talking about 7.5 million or so who started pulling the straight "D" lever again less than a year after 9/11. You know, the 7.5 million that have given us Senators Schumer and Clinton?

Why drag California into it?
BTW the world does kind-of revolve around New York.
It is the financial capital of the world.
And more than 10% of Americans live in California.
So boo hoo yourself.
P.S. There are millions of republicians in californa, we are just outnumbered.
Free republic is in california.
Reagan came from California.
Take your california hating self and have a cold one.

They have been getting money for five years. Are they not fortifying and reinforcing possible targets? After a few years, there should be fewer and fewer items that need to be upgraded. If the money stayed the same, pretty soon, dogs would be wearing bullet-proof vests.

NYC is so 2001... LA LA Land or DC are the ones that need to have their heads up IMO.

The Hildebeast promised 200,000 jobs for NYS and instead we have lost 150,000 jobs. She is quite the clueless wonder. Perfect for the drones of NYS.

Rarely do I think about her -- except when I read about a sting on cops arresting prostitutes.
