Recent study including 10 colleges ranks Albions women the cutest.
Albion College is more than a pretty campus with a sweet reputationwe also have the "cutest" women.
A study performed last May by two male University of Chicago students, Aaron Puri and Jason Scima, crowned Albion as the college with the cutest women.
The study included Albion College, Michigan State University, the University of Oregon, Princeton University, the University of Puget Sound, Stanford University, the University of Chicago, the University of California, Los Angeles and Vanderbilt University.
During their first year at the University of Chicago, Puri and Scima were made aware of a stigma that the Chicago student body has a "Quasimodo" reputation. To investigate the widespread claim that Chicago female students are less attractive than most schools women, the men chose 10 colleges from across the countryranging from small liberal arts colleges to Big Ten universitiesfor their experiment.
Puri and Scima used Facebook, the online college directory, to select 35 pictures of female students from each of the 10 schools graduating class of 2008. The womens photos were then posted on HotOrNot.com for the Internet public to judge their attractiveness on a scale of 1 (Not) to 10 (Hot). After each photograph was rated at least 300 times, the photos were taken off the site and calculations were made. According to HotOrNot.com, "scores do not tend to change much after as few as 30 to 50 votes."
Albion College women were crowned the number one beauty queens, scoring an average HotOrNot rating of 7.60. The following schools in ranking order were Michigan State University (7.55), the University of Oregon (7.52), Vanderbilt University (7.49), the University of Michigan (7.11), Princeton University (7.06), the University of California Los Angeles (6.78), Stanford University (6.75), the University of Puget Sound (6.35) and, lastly, the University of Chicago (6.07).
Not all of Albions male students agreed with the studys findings.
"Ive been to State and I would say that they should be number one," said Michael Porter, Jackson senior. "(MSU) has a lot of cute girls, so I would put Albion second."
Andy Goldbaum, Ann Arbor junior, agreed with Porter.
"There are cute girls at every school, but Ive seen heaps of cute ones at MSU compared to Albion," Goldbaum said. "But then again, I dont get out much."
Nick Pelton, MSU senior, stated the obvious.
"Albion may have a (slightly) higher percentage, but MSU has like 90,387,428,934 more cute girls, statistically speaking," Pelton said.
Denise Switzer, Indian River junior, said it makes sense Albion College women are rated the cutest.
"Its not like the test is saying that we only have three hot girls," Switzer said. "Its saying that we have a lot of cute girls."
Just like Albions men were quick to second-guess the cuteness of Albions women, the women sometimes feel they need vision correction when checking out Albion men.
"(Albion men) were hit in the face with an ugly stick to a horrible extent," said a student, who requested anonymity. "Honestly, on a scale of one to 10, Id rate them a three."
However, a recent study performed by The Pleiad has discovered that HotOrNot.com visitors give Albion men a higher score.
Thirty-five Albion men (first-years through seniors) were chosen randomly by The Pleiad from Facebook to be rated. The pictures were posted on HotOrNot.com and after at least 40 votes the scores were recorded and the pictures were taken off the site. Albion men scored an average rating of 6.67making Albion women the cuter gender on campus.
Switzer agreed with the studys findings.
"(Albion men) are not outrageously attractivetheyre just normal," said Switzer, whose boyfriend attends a neighboring college. "Our campus is a good balance of attractiveness, because it mirrors the real world. Were not all outrageously attractive or unattractive."
Despite Puri and Scimas findings, they have not transferred to a college with "cuter" women. For those interested, Puri received a HotOrNot rating of 7.9 and Scima scored an 8.1 based on their Facebook photos. Visit www.collegecutness.com for more information about Puri and Scimas research.
What does Albions No. 1 ranking mean?
- Albions high median of 8.0 means half of the women in their sample scored an 8.0 or above. This shows that there are a lot of good-looking women at Albion, instead of just a few great-looking women.
- Albion finishing first also disproves any claim that smaller liberal arts school students are not as attractive as those of large state schools.
- It is interesting that Puget Sound, which is the most comparable to Albion in terms of size and competitiveness, scored so much lower in the study. This makes it unlikely that either of these factors are related to attractiveness.
Puget Debs? :)
Debs? What's that? dykes?
Been to the student center for a coffee lately?...8>)
I go there on occassion. There's a few cuties; I remember one that was working at the coffee shop, but by and large, it's weak.
LOL...just be glad you don't have to worry about that. ;)
Ah, to be young again and in college where debates like this were actually about all one had to concern oneself with.
LOL. Hottie college lesbians don't ruin my day. ;o)
I'm constantly reliving my yoot. ;o)
It keeps us young.
If I think about politics all the time, I get grumpy.
I've made a few business calls on the night life activity. Put my school to shame..8>)
Horndog! Your not supposed to be looking.

I'll do my best to avoid that gathering.
I have to admit I'm not completely adverse to the coeds who wear their sweats or skirts down low. LOL. Seems to be the trend.
I wasn't. I was blind and used the braille method. ;o)
I am conducting my own study & will be accepting photo submissions at my private freepmail.
