Geek question!
I'm thinking of buying a used 'puter to "fold" with. Is there a easy to use software (freeware) test I can use on the box to check overall health? More than just a BIOS test. In other-words, is there a comprehensive set of tests/diagnostics I can take on a CD or USB pen drive that will make sure I'm not buying a lemon?

Well, the number one tester that I use is F@H. I load it on and if it completes a WU than the system is good to go.
Look here at majorgeeks.com for freeware system testers:

LOL! That's great!
My goal has been to reach the top 10% of all folders. Am at 54360 of 538877. That's 10.0087%. I've had some monster WUs lately, has slowed me down. Will finish a 5000 framer at about 0530 (7 hours from now), and a 20,000 framer at about 0500. Will recalculate tomorrow!
Let's fold!

Just imagine the horror of the "intelligent, highly educated" DUmmy crowd being outfolded by a team of "rednecks" :)Hey, wait just a minute. I resemble that remark.
BTW, girfriend is gonna buy a laptop with her tax return. Well, the check came in yesterday. Should be purchased by the weekend. She's living in a FEMA trailer right beside my house. That'll give me three machines.
Woo Hoo!

IndyOp (1000+ posts) Mon Mar-13-06 09:33 PM Response to Original message 14. Suggestion: Celebrate DU. Stop competing with Freepers. Just a suggestion - we don't need any more divisions than we already have in this nation. Also: I just finished folding my first protein!! Am now on Protein #2.I don't know how to do the screen captures but I thought this DUmmie post was funny.
Translation: We can't compete with the FReepers so let's stop trying.
