I wasn't trying to be mean, I was curious to find some of that Vapor Rum, cuz right about now, it sounds pretty good and would probably help with all our colds.

I hate that stuffy, itchy, watery eyes, achy feeling. Ugh...

Other than rest, fluids, and time -- there's not much to do about a cold.

I've been suffering the cold, throat thing since Friday night. Last night I broke down and tried the Ny-Quil. Worked like a charm. First nights sleep in days. And I didn't cough once in the night.

Started taking mega doses of zinc, trying to short circuit the cold. The sore throat stopped soon after starting the zinc.

Actually I figure "Vapor Rum" might be what you get steaming up from a really strong brewing of a Hot Toddy!!!

Speaking of which........here is a great Hot Toddy "Cold Remedy"

Ingredients
2 fl oz. (3.5 tablespoons) of strong alcohol such as Whiskey, Bourbon, Dark rum, or Brandy ~ which ever suits your personal taste preference
2fl oz. (3.5 tablespoons) boiling water
A half teaspoon of honey
A dash of lemon and a couple of cloves (both optional, but highly recommended)

Directions

Place the alcohol in a microwavable container and stir the honey into it.
Add the boiling water ~ pouring it over the teaspoon to clean off the last of the honey.
Microwave to make sure it's really piping hot ~ but for no more than a minute or until it's fizzing and you can smell alcohol.
Add lemon and cloves to taste.

Now, nobody is saying that this steaming concoction will cure your cold but a hot toddy may well make you feel a little better.

I think I might just go fix one now and then toddle off back to bed for a while.

Zycam worked for me too, I took it when I just started getting a sore throat, runny nose, sneezing. I improved the next day and the day after the cold was almost totally gone.

Usually I'll catch something like that and it will get a lot worse and I'll have it for over a month or until I get some antibiotics from the doctor.
