I would prefer Nebraska played Michigan rather than the ChickenHawks in the Alamo Bowl.
If USC is effective with their running game against Texas, they win.
If they have problems running against Texas and have to do it on passes, it will be a contest.

It’s a matchup of septuagenarians, with Paterno turning 79 later this month and Bowden now 76. Bowden has 359 wins, six more than Paterno — and both steered their teams to surprising comeback stories in 2005.
Bowden is 1-6 all-time against Paterno; he lost all six meetings as West Virginia’s coach in the early 1970s, and guided Florida State to a 24-17 victory over Penn State in the 1990 Blockbuster Bowl.
It’s probably no surprise that both coaches have sparkling records in bowl games. Bowden is 19-8-1 all-time in bowls, a winning percentage of .696 that is the best in Division I-A history. Paterno is 20-10-1 in bowl games, plus is the only coach to ever win the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange and Cotton bowls.
So it is as expected. ND-OSU could be the most entertaining of the BCS bowls.

Argh! I promised my parents weeks ago that I would pick up my sister at Philly Int'l Airport on Dec. 30th at 10:33PM. As fate would have it, my 'Canes play at 7:30 that night, in the best matchup of non BCS teams. I guess I'll be getting there a bit early and watching the game at a bar at the airport.
The Pac 10 received it's annual BullcS shafting so nothing changes. What a joke of a system. The final MSM Monopoly.

If Vince Young pulls a hammy the week of the title game and Texas subsequently gets blown out by USC, I don't think it's accurate to say that a 12-0 Texas team got "exposed". Texas got to be 12-0 because they had Vince Young.
Cal was a top-ten team last year when they were able to feature a very potent balanced offense, and that balance enabled them to control games. They had 4 athletic veteran receivers who could get open and run after catching the ball, and coupled with a first round NFL qb and two good running backs, they were tough. Except that by the time their bowl game came, 3 of those receivers were already out for the year, and the 4th (and arguably the best of them) broke his leg early in the first quarter of their bowl game against Texas Tech. Freshman receivers couldn't get open or make catches, they no longer had a passing attack, and Tech played a great game.
Tell you what, if Ohio State loses their two receivers prior to Notre Dame, they'll look as crappy offensively as they did earlier this year, and get "exposed" real fast in that one too.

Yeah, 6-1 in BCS Bowl games since 2000, with all six wins being routs and the six wins distributed among 4 different Pac-10 schools (Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, USC). Also, the only loss in their seven games came when Washington State's QB tried to play with a cracked ankle and torn ligaments (although Oklahoma would have won that game anyway, in my opinion. They were on fire that day.)
I just wish that Oregon's QB Clemens hadn't broken his leg 4 games ago and could play in the bowl game. He was really a great player and leader for the Ducks. Great job finishing up 10-1 without him.
Have you seen Dixon and Leaf?? They are filling in for Clemens very well. We will take care of Oklahoma and should be a great game.

I'm surprised how many folks apparently don't understand the concept of the automatic bid for the BCS bowls. I can't tell you how many people have asked me how come West Virginia is playing in the Sugar Bowl.

You must mean Fresno State, because Florida State will get smacked in the Orange Bowl. Penn State will win by at least 20.
They'll never get rid of the automatic bids because then the conferences won't take part. The current at large bids are just bonus money for whatever conference gets them.
Which begs another question. Ohio St. is getting a big payday for their BCS appearance and so will the Big Ten on top of Penn St.'s appearance in the Orange Bowl. ND obviously gets money for their Fiesta Bowl trip but what happens to the money that was supposed to go to the conference considering ND doesn't belong to one?! Do they get a REALLY big pay day?
