It should be pointed-out that no other World Series was played in the something as big as the LA Colosseum, which holds roughly 90,000 people.
And the Konerko signing is a very good thing. He (Pauly) said on the radio today that the signing of Jim Thome was a tipping point.
Kenny = genius
Good first post.
Awesome news.
It's going to be another fun year on the South Side. Also more good news, the entire club level is now sold out next years. This means all the drunk trailer trash will be confined to the upper deck! (My seats are in the club level so I'm very happy about that)
***That would have been shortly after their last World Series appearance!***
Nope Ozone, no offense but that would be Jim Landis (one of the best CF ever IMHO).
He roamed the vast Comiskey CF for the ChiSox from 57 to 64.
(I recall weeping when he was traded away)
I stand corrected. By the way, as a native south-sider, I recall how we finally discovered who the real White Sox fans were during the '69 season, when so many born-again Cubs fans appeared out of nowhere. Did something similar happen on the north-side during the past season?
I just read that the entire Club Level at the Cell has been sold out to 2006 season ticketholders. It used to be my favorite choice for grabbing an occasional seat.
I few did. But they were more of the 'rooting for Chicago' type than Cubbie fans jumping on the bandwagon.
Naturally I'm going by reports in the Tribune and Slum-Times as I attempt not to go North of Madison Street :-)
Then again, I mostly refuse to go within the city limits now. (the old 'hood' is depressing)
