No More Donations(Exrtreme Vanity!)
Randy's Bitter Thoughts | 9/10/2005 | Me

Posted on 09/10/2005 8:33:06 PM PDT by Randy Larsen

I've decide that from this date forward I will no longer donate to any national calamity in any of the so called "Blue States".They don't deserve my help, and afterwards I don't feel they appreciate my help anyway.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: bluestates; dems; donations; katrina; money; nationaldisasters; naturaldisasters; ungrateful
After watching the MSM these last few days I don't want my money helping the democrates!

Am I wrong to feel this bitter? Let them take care of their own problems!

I don't feel they appreciate my help anyway.

Appreciate? You forget, the democratic constitutents somehow feel ENTITLED to your money; and why not? They have been living off it for most of their lives, why should this change things? The attitude I'm seeing is that we working folks REALLY owe them big time now; because they had a storm and we didn't. The storm was God's lottery, and they feel that they have won.

So, if a simple welfare check was good enough for them before the storm; that isn't a tenth of what they feel is owed them now. Just wait, they will be DEMANDING a new home, new car and a million dollar settlement for each family that survived.

Yes, you are just as wrong as those on the Left who advocated not donating to Louisiana because it was a red state.

Red, Blue, we are all Americans, and the magnitude of destruction is something that most people don't really understand yet.

96,000 square miles is an area approximately the size of Minnesota- or the United Kingdom, if you will.

While I too am completely over the entitlement mentality, I think we're not supposed to be donating so that someone will appreciate us....it's to help, period. Just to help, because it is the right thing to do. And remember, that attitude you're seeing is the one you're being shown...the MSM would never dare show you the many who are thankful. My DH is a cop and our dept sent people down there. One of the officers sent back an email whose overriding theme was that he was shocked by the overwhelming gratitude and positive attitude in the face of total devastation. He specifically referenced fellow officers as well as citizens thanking him all day, every day.

My brother and his family lost every damn thing they owned. I'm going to donate to him. Not to sound like an a$$hole, but I have to help my own first. I have a limited income.

You must have missed the guy on Fox this morning who said they were being treated like slaves on a ship (didn't Jessie say that last week??) and nothing less than $20,000 each would make them feel better about their situation.

I'm giving to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary... they have been in trying to save as many dogs as possible -- that that cop hasn't been shooting for the fun of it.

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even `sinners'
love those who love them. But love your enemies, do good to them, and
lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward
will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind
to the ungrateful and wicked.

I'd bet a nickle he didn't carry NOLA in those two wins.....

As to this thread. I hand my donations directly to the needy vs creating a problem with such charities that have administration costs for CEO's and directors etc etc....I'll cut down their burden and help those I see in need. After Red Cross decided to make 9-11 families "prove" they needed the money I donated for ...THEM ...I decided to deliver any monetary donation or materials in person.....

It's your money to do with as you will. I can' blame yu for your feelings, I felt the same after teh looting & rescuers getting shot at.

That said, I think your red/blue state divisionism is misplaced. I'm sure there are good conservatives devastated by this disaster.

What the hell are you taking about...Validation?
I don't donate my hard earned cash for someone to approve of my motivations!..I give because I care!

I want to give to charities who will actually help the needy, not to organizations who will use the donations to try to destroy the things that I beleive are morally necessary to human survival.

Validation has nothing to do with anything!

Opinions are welcome, validations are not!

We give and we will always give. We give because we don't care about thanks or even if they "deserve" it. That's why we get to wear the white hats. We didn't exterminate Germans, we didn't massacre Japanese. We don't pop some sarin in the housing projects because we value our humanity more than they do.
I would sooner die with honor than make myself into what I am fighting against. It applies in the war on evil, suffering and liberalism (redundant, I know)as much as it applies in any war. I have to assume that your premise is either caused by a momentary lapse or just a self-conscious post to get discussion going.

You know what they say happens when we ASSUME...But you are probably correct on both counts. Maybe we should all do our homework a little more thoroughly before giving generously to useless organisations when our contributions could be more wisely used by charities who truely want to help the real cause instead of falling prey to our base emotions.

Give to the Salvation Army and you will know your money will be well spent. Just give generally, that's what I did after 9/11, since I knew the money was flooding in then (no pun, oops!), so I said they should spend the small amount I sent them in whatever way they thought was best. I did send money to the Firemen in NYC, but I still told them the same thing.

I never got the choice whether to donate or not. The federal government just up and seized a large portion of my income and decided to give it away to subsidize people who never had that much to begin with and also to subsidize work for illegal aliens that I don't want here anyway.

So I can understand where you're coming from on this. If Blanco and Nagin aren't going to be accountable for their actions, why participate in relieving them of the consequences?

I think it is expected that when you extend the olive branch to liberal RATS they will sharpen the stick to stab you in the back. I did send down a 100 and told me wife if we can send a hundred bucks to victims of a natural disaster shouldn't we do something for the families of soldiers killed in action?? At least a like amount. Who has made the greater sacrifice--the answer is obvious. I understand there are higher education funds for children of those soldiers KIA--can anyone tell me which is the best?? I need your advice here freepers.
