A odor that I being a male find offensive is the small of old fish.

and to wear cotton pads in their armpits for 24 h.

One big problem with this study is that no truly dominant male would wear cotton pads in his armpits for 24 s much less 24 h.

Can't anything be private anymore? What was the purpose of posting this article?

So that some of us who are interested in psychology and biological anthropology can read it? I would have missed it if the poster hadn't put it up, and I appreciate the opportunity to read it. If you're not interested, don't read it.

In other words, Woman's answer to this vexing question of what they like in a man is, "It depends."
In a way, this is progress. In the seventies they had a survey, asking women, "What do you most like to see in a man?" and the #1 answer was, the top of his head.

Re #30

I have know some woman who always talk endlessly about "nice guys" most of the time, but when she tries to go out to the downtown for a major fun once in a while, she always shacks up with a 'bad boy.'

Now I know what drive her behavior.:-) If you ask women like her, they always attribute to some mystical thing men never get. They are right in a way. It is due to their menstrual cycle reacting to male pheromone. Nothing metaphysical, though.:-)

Very interesting reading (but not surprising).

No wonder the biggest draws in Chick lit is the Uber-Alpha males (with a sweet tender side, of course ;) )

Very true. Armpit cotton pad wearers are definitely a turn-off.....

I don't believe it for a moment. The idea that women are influenced in their choice of men, by this or that odor at this or that time, is worse than quackery. It's quackery with "proof," and I suspect the intent is further to reduce humans to the status of dumb brutes.
