An early good morning ping to all of you! I am up for a bit and thought I would make sure I got the thread started, since I have to babysit today and might not have been able to get it done later.
I hope everyone made it through the bad weather ok.
To: Miss Marple
You're up early, B&G. ;^)

Good morning! I vote that we all go back to bed now.
To: Carolinamom
I would, except I fell asleep around 9 last night, and can't quite work myself back into sleepiness yet.

Well, I did go back to bed, and laid there for an hour without going back to sleep. Feh.
I am guess I will try to take a nap when my granddaughter takes hers this afternoon.
I just saw that icky Adrian woman who is a democrat on Fox. She is the sourest person I have seen in some time.
To: Miss Marple; lysie
Good Morning!
Storms came through this morning around two, but nothing too serious.

What is with Democrats, and their sour attitude?
I guess if I had the choices of the likes of Kerry, Hellary, or Turbin Durbin I'd be sour too.
Of course they can choose to come their senses.

Good morning. Thanks for the start, Jane!
In the basement, IG? That weather map made it look like we would get some of that storm but have only had about 5 minutes of rain an hour ago.

Good morning. If I'm up this late in the early morning there is no way I can fall back to sleep.
I hope our friends in the midwest have weathered the storms, well.
Are we back on? Tap, tap...hello.....testing, testing.

I can't usually fall back asleep, either, but I thought I would give it a try.
Boy, did it rain yesterday! I looked outside and it was coming straight down so heavily that I couldn't see my back fence line. We have had almost 4 inches in two days.
Ha! My aggravating Weatherbug is showing 15 below zero this morning!

I had logged off to take a shower, but when I tried to get back on, TIME OUT. I tried the dial-up back-up. TIME OUT. Shut down computer. Booted up. TIME OUT. Withdrawal pains setting in....did laundry. Tried holding my mouth right and tried again. WHEW!!! Here now and profoundly grateful, lysie, for the info about FR. I was just about to phone the server and embarrass myself.
Good Morning, Everybody!

A FRiend emailed me this map of where the US chopper went down.
Asadabad (aka: Chaghasaray or any of eleven other variants): A small city located alongside the Kunar River, in Kunar (variant: Konar) Province of eastern Afghanistan on the Pakistani border. Asadabad is located 184 km (114 mi.), ENE (78º) from Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This area is extremely mountainous with deep valleys and is located along the southern side of the Hindu Kush mountain range. A topo (not available online) of the area shows nearby mountain peaks exceeding 14,000 feet in height.
The valley of the Kunar River runs roughly north-east to south-west and where it crosses the Pakistani border in the north, it becomes the Chitral River. Asadabad is located only 10 miles from the Pakistani border via a mountainous pass to the east, but the more likely routes in are a 60 mile trek along the river road to the north-east.
The Kunar/Chitral river basin is a notorious and extremely dangerous al-Qa'ida stronghold. Intelligence reports have long suggested that Osama bin Laden's hideout is within the mid to northern end of this river basin. Therefore, stay alert for any stories involving the Kunar or Chitral areas. The MH-47 helicopter that crashed was carrying Navy SEALs and other spec-ops personnel into the area as part of Operation Red Wing hunting al-Qa'ida terrorists. (source)
The map below covers the northern border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, can be seen at the center, extreme left, of the map. Traveling east from there, we come to Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Note the Safed Koh mountains, immediately south of Jalalabad. This is the site of the notorious "Tora Bora" cave complex. Continuing east from Jalalabad, we enter the historically famous (or infamous, if you're British) Khyber Pass and emerge into Pakistan where we arrive at one of that country's larger cities, Peshawar. The city of Asadabad is found slightly north of the center on the map.

Tried holding my mouth rightWas your tongue curled over to the right or left?
Reminds me of the little ones I used to watch when I had my daycare. Never failed, everytime they colored in coloring books... the tongues would move in the direction of the crayon. LOL

A GOOD AND WONDERFUL A.M. TO ONE AND ALL FROM THE CLOUDY MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA!!!!
AND the hours slip away, won't be long before closing time is here for my 'in town house'. Now to start looking for more property to invest in, the ground is better than stocks cause it is not made anymore. I know that 'country land' is hot, hot, hot here. I just bought almost 2 acres for oldest daughter, gotta see she is set in life as well as my 'here' daughter. SIL is looking to build her a modest little house as he wants to start to build houses.
I am sorry, I do not mean to sound like I am bragging or anything, goodness knows. I am not like that but am just proud that I am now in the position to take care of my girls.
I had one heck of a time getting into FR this morning, would not connect me to it, problems at the old home front?
Just walked out and cut some roses for the house, I got 6 bushes that have died, plum dead, to the core, no hope for them, didn't take when I planted them. So much for 'bargains' huh? I will wait until it cools down some and replace them. I like the tea roses myself.
One more day of punishment for GD for not cleaning her room, bike will have to wait until tomorrow, don't see why myself but, can't interfere you know. BUT old PawPaw will be presenting her case for a new bike all day, might work huh?
Oh boy, coffee is ready, need my starter to get me going, with the price of coffee I might have to start making it out of grits, ummmmmm, grits coffee, might be on to something.
I will run for now and catch up on the news, in other words get the latest on this old world going to hell in a hand basket. Hang in there W, we here at FR are praying for you and we know that right out weighs wrong every time. Toby

My self esteem was in a precarious state....going down, down, down as the machine REJECTED me. Recovering now.
To: lysie
Good morning kind lady, rain here today, on and off the weather man said, course he lies.
To: Carolinamom
FR doesn't go down as much as it used to. I guess I didn't miss anything by lying in bed, since the system was down.
I absolutely hate it when I can't access FR.
To: gulfcoast6
I HOPE my weather man is lying.....said it would be 90 or more today.
Has anybody ever told you that "You're a good man, Charley Brown, gulfcoast6?"

Toby were the roses who bit the dust potted when you purchased them, or were they bare root?
IF they were bare root, did you soak them in water overnight before you planted them?
