Mornin' HLL. Now I'm really concerned. The only dream I can remember from last night was about my hair. I've been wearing it straight these days, but dreamt that I went curly like this:

In my dream I didn't like it and was really mad at my hairdresser! Things don't look good for me.....

Good thing I'm not superstitious!

After I posted this thread I went back to sleep and dreamed about Jerry Seinfeld.

So did my wife. Well, it was actually his wife, and they were making out. This absolutely ruined me for the day, maybe even the week.

I need to find a picture of this woman.

Yes, I've had recurring dreams. When I was a child, I had the same dream whenever I was sick. (If I describe what it was, you all will know I'm strange!).

Speaking of strange, today's bit of Scientology news from LaLaLand:

I hear that Katie Holmes is driving Warner Bros. Pictures absolutely batty with her insistence - or maybe it's boyfriend Tom Cruise's insistence - that a Church of Scientology official accompany the starlet every step of the way on her "Batman Begins" press tour.

Warner Bros. international marketing execs have been firing off agitated E-mails expressing severe frustration that the 26-year-old Holmes' Scientology adviser, a twentysomething brunette identified as Jessica Rodriguez, has been monitoring (and occasionally interrupting) every single press interview when not giving Holmes religious instruction. "Tom pays Jessica to 'Keep Katie on the path,'" reports a Lowdown spy. "She goes everywhere with Katie - she's never more than a quarter-step behind her. When you ask her who she is, she says, 'I'm Katie's best friend.' She's known her for six weeks!"

Adds the spy: "Warner Bros. is going out of its way to be nice, has been nothing but gracious, and Jessica is very condescending to people around her, and she continues to ask a thousand questions: 'What time does the plane leave?' 'How long is this interview going to take?'

"While in London, Jessica interrupted interviews with things like, 'Tom on the phone for Katie.' She was at 'Regis and Kelly,' 'GMA.' She's always around. She sat in on USA Today - that's why they did such a nasty article."

Yesterday, Holmes confirmed at a London press conference that she was officially converting to the religion founded in the 1950s by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. Her announcement seemed to provoke a glare from her "Batman Begins" co-star Michael Caine.

But the studio downplayed reports of tension. "There's no discord between us and Jessica," said a rep for Warner Bros. "We, in fact, made Jessica's hotel reservations for her and brought her along on our plane. If she's someone Katie wants to travel with, that's fine. The people who made the tour made every effort to accommodate her. It's a very amicable situation." Lloyd Grove

Yep, that Scientology thing is all about converts. It's rather like a pyramid scheme....needs lots of folks giving lots of money to keep those at the top going. Pretty sick stuff....but then, Hollywood is pretty sick.

Well, I have a recurring dream where I'm going to a final in a class that I've not attended all semester - usually a math class, and I'm wandering the campus trying to figure out which building and room the thing's in. I haven't been in college for 25 years. But I still have that dream.

There you go, you linked my morning dream with Michael Jackson and my graphic.

As I recall, my morning dream today involved playing basketball. The Seinfeld link:

GEORGE: Ah, ...A beautiful successful intelligent woman's in love with me and I throw it all away. uh oh boy. Now I'll spend the rest of my life living alone. I'll sit in my disgusting little apartment watching basketball games, eating Chinese take out. Walking around with no underwear. Because I'm too lazy to do a laundry.

JERRY: You walk around with no underwear?

GEORGE: Yeah, what do you do when you run out of laundry?

JERRY: I do a wash.

I prefer continuing sagas, but I rarely get them. My dreams are so vivid and the experiences quite fun, sometimes odd, but always interesting, so I'm always curious as to what's going to happen next.

This entire topic is ironic because last night I had a dream that disturbed me - about a friend I haven't seen in a long time. It had bothered me all day and I wondered if I should get in touch and then of course I checked in here and we're talking dreams. Go figure.

I had weird dreams before I was laid off from my job a couple of years ago. I dreamed that I was back being a nanny. I can remember in the dreams thinking "Why would I want to go back to being a nanny??? The money is awful and these kids are grown." And I would have the same dream every few weeks. It was quite odd. Then I was laid off, found another (better) job, and haven't had the dream since.

On a different note concerning the previous thread and tans, I cannot be in the sun much (I had an allergic reaction to the sun several years ago.) Anyway, I was watching HSN and they have those spray tans that you can do at home now. Quite intriguing. I am going on a cruise in November with a friend, we are going to try the spray on tan booths a month or so before the cruise. If it looks nice, then we'll go again right before the cruise.

Thanks for the new thread. As it has been said, you are a golden treasure.

That dream I told you about on Monday is still creeping me out. I'd much rather dream about Jerry Seinfield.

Remember the good old days when this sort of story was a just bad dream, not reality?

Glasgow Sheriff Court was told that Saeed Akbar, a manager at an interpreting and translation company, "had wanted a bit of excitement".

Akbar, 35, left the interview room and came back in to speak to his female victim naked and clutching a clipboard.

When the job candidate refused to strip as well, he put his clothes on and attempted to continue the interview as normal, the court was told.

Akbar, from Fife, said: "I wanted a bit of excitement that afternoon, that's purely all it was." more

Lucky Iowa!

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean vowed to work with Iowa leaders in an effort to bring the party together.

Dean gave a fiery speech in Cedar Rapids last weekend. [That's not news!]

As he addressed close to 500 activists, he stressed that the party needs to focus on all 50 states, not just the key 18 states. He said it's important that party faithful are clear about where they stand on important issues and are willing to fight for them.

"Social Security is a symbol of the responsibility that we have for each other. I have a responsibility to my parents. My children have responsibility to me. I have responsibility to your parents, and you have responsibility to my parents. We are all in this together," Dean said.

Dean recently came under fire for saying Republicans are "pretty much a white, Christian party" and saying they have "never made an honest living in their lives." Link

With all the Neanderthal blathering coming from Dean I've decided to dub him...

Unfrozen Caveman DNC Chairman

:-)

However, there are getting to be so many of those Dipsticks, we might have to start numbering them.

Dipstick Ron Fournier wants us to believe:

GOP Frets Over Bush's Political Standing

When will management finally get fed up with paying for this kind of journalistic laziness? Making up polls to get their perceeved "correct conclusion" so they can make it a news story.

Now here's a poll Fournier will ignore...

Americans Split On Military Effort In Iraq, But Most Acknowledge Positive Outcomes

Americans may not see eye-to-eye with President Bush on all issues, but a majority believe that the U.S. military action in Iraq will lead to a more democratic — and by extension freer — Middle East, according to the latest IBD/TIPP Poll.

Conducted June 6-10 among 913 adults, the poll found nearly two of every three (60%) think America's foray into Iraq has helped sow the seeds of democracy in the Middle East. Among Republicans, that number jumps up to 87%. Even large numbers of Democrats (44%) and independents (53%) agree with that sentiment.

"Most Americans see a democratic Middle East as one positive outcome of the Iraq War," said Raghavan Mayur, president of TIPP, a unit of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, IBD's polling partner.

What's more, a large majority (70%) also believe it's important for the U.S. and coalition countries to maintain a military presence in Iraq. [complete story at link]

"Social Security is a symbol of the responsibility that we have for each other. I have a responsibility to my parents. My children have responsibility to me. I have responsibility to your parents, and you have responsibility to my parents. We are all in this together," Dean said.

If the caveman really believed this - that we are to care for our own families - he wouldn't want the government involved in any of the entitlement and social welfare programs. He'd be urging the elimination of Medicare, Medicaid, AFDC, SSI, the whole nine yards. If it's Howie's responsibility to feed or shelter his parents, how did it also become mine?

...try the spray on tan booths a month or so before the cruise. If it looks nice, then we'll go again right before the cruise.

Please let us know how it works out. And about the dream, did you know or suspect there would be layoffs or did it come out of the blue?

That dream was almost a premonition, Utah. Has anyone had those? I remember the Christian singer Rich Mullins being in my dream one night, awakening to read in the morning newspaper that he had been killed in a car wreck. So, it wasn't a premonition, considering the accident happened the day before, but I certainly hadn't heard about it before I dreamed about him.

Lucky Iowa indeed....they get to see lots of Johnny Edwards too...War on poverty "great moral cause," Edwards tells homeless group

""This is the cause of my life right now," Edwards said after speaking to the Iowa Coalition for Housing and the Homeless...... "I'm going to try to pressure everybody, and more important than pressure, I'm going to try to build a grassroots movement for doing something about poverty in this country," Edwards said.

You're familiar with the line from Macbeth, "Something wicked this way comes"? Early one morning I have this vivid dream. Something is approaching. I cannot see it. I am aware of it because I can hear its, well, music. It is a cacophony of bright horns and bells sliding and slumping in a sickly spine-chilling fashion (there is a verse in Ezekiel). I begin to hyperventilate. A voice quietly says, "Fear not. He cannot see you." In a moment, it is gone.

I arise and dress just in time to see the second 757 crash into the WTC on television.

Edwards was in Cedar Rapids last weekend, I think. From what I've heard, candidates on both sides are beginning to try to line up the grassroots activists and get them signed on.

Layoffs were a common occurrence at that company. I made it through 15 layoffs in 9 years. It was kind of always on everyone's minds. I was surprised when I was laid off, 13 years and I had just had an evaluation where I ranked in the top 15% of the company. I will deny saying this to anyone I used to work with, but I am much better off since the layoff two years ago.

Surprise, surprise...Brad did cheat on Jen...

JENNIFER ANISTON finally gives it up - her fairy-tale marriage ended because Brad Pitt cheated on her. Spilling her guts to Vanity Fair maggie, the former Friend says that, in fact, she did want Brad's baby and is appalled by the ``family'' photo shoot Brad and purported paramour Angelina Jolie posed for in W maggie. ``She told (VF) she did want babies with Brad and that starting a family wasn't the issue,'' a source told the New York Post. ``The issue was Brad cheated.'' We're shocked. Shocked.
