I remember reading several months ago about some drug they developed from a tree or plant in africa. When people take it they go through this introspective journey and meet with some sort of spiritual being that sets them straight...?

No I dont buy it but a "friend" wanted to read it. Thanks

I think it's called ibogaine or ibogane or something...

I debated the use of this drug in high school once.

Sounds like an LSD trip I took in the 60's. I did meet a weird spiritual being on one LSD trip and unfortunately wound up married to her.

I believe you are referring to Ibogaine which is actually getting legitimate scrutiny.

Ever hear of the rehab treatment where they keep the person asleep for 1-3 months until all the withdrawal symptoms subside?

Wow. I think I am in need of that rehab treatment. I mean I'm not on drugs or anything but that sounds kind of nice.

Ibogaine does this. Unfortunately, patients develop an addiction for Ibogaine, for which there is no cure.

Ibogaine is a psychoactive alkaloid present in an African shrub called tabernanthe iboga, and has been used for centuries as a sacred/divinational drug there. It causes intense hallucinations and is said to be a trip one would rather not repeat. Ibogaine probably isn't available from your corner pusher because its said to not be very pleasant. however clinicians have noticed one very peculiar characteristic; individuals with other chemical dependencies like cocaine or heroin report a very high rate of feeling "freed" from their addiction, often after only one experience. Iboga/ibogaine are illegal to use/possess in the US, but clinics outside the country will administer it in a clinical setting for addiction therapy, but the price ain't cheap. There seems to be a great deal of validity to the claims of its proponents due to the great amount of anecdotal testimonies to its effectiveness.

I doubt that anyone would ever get addicted to ibogaine. From what I recall, it is used in some tribal initiation ordeals. It seems to produce the equivalent of a memory-core dump--vivid, intense, recollection of one's entire life---and those who have taken it report never wanting to have anything to do with it again.

There isn't a good hypothesis as to why it seems to allow some people to go cold-turkey off long-established cocaine or heroin habits without withdrawl symptoms, but there are lots of reports of it having that effect.

Two weeks on heavy doses of Demerol got me off of nicotine.

The side effects were horrid though. I kept having to go back and have drains & stitches removed....

Ummm not having ever used any drugs, I can only relate my understanding from those who have, that that is, in itself, the usual purpose of taking some recreational pharmeceuticals, right? How does doing the offending act again solve anything, please?

I wouldnt know. I have never even sipped a beer in my life let alone anything beyond that. No one believes me when I say that but it is true.
apparently this drug has this strange introspection effect on people, ( again, no use for it) but that is what came up when talking to my friend about it.

My dad still drinks Tab, (though it is very hard to procure and he has to hunt in the strangest places to find any).

We give him a hard time about it.

:)

You are a brave soul to admit your dad drinks tab. Like wearing a leasure suit or having a pocket protector just screams a message to the world. BTW my dad unashamedly still uses a pocket protector.

No they don't all meet a being some meet clown and alien figures or some see a light hey think is god but hey don't meet anyone they just site back and see their whole life and what hey did to hurt people feelings and things you did that you didn't even realize you were doing and who it hurt and then you get a major visual and auditory hallucinations that are real as can be but they take place outside the universe looking in and you can hear every thought and know all facts the whole earth full of humans knows all at once and you also feel like you have re entered the human soul frequency after a long journey and you know why everything is the way it is, but sadly you forget it when the trip is over and only remember little flashes but it is strong, my advice try DMT and you will know or start with Salvia for the out of the universe learning experience and when I sat OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE LITERALLY YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE OPUT SIDE TRHGE =UNIVERSE AND IT IS NOW JUST A SPECK OF SAND IN A SEA OF UNIVERSES
